Hi, nextdeal! (a big howdy from another mid-Tennessean!)

If you're talking about Breynia nervosa: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/2004/index.html or http://plantsdatabase.com/go/57824/index.html

the sad answer is nope. It's wayyyy too tender for here, (we're 6b/7a - 7 on the new USDA map, I think.)

Now, Euphorbia marginata is also called "Snow on the Mountain" and it's an annual which can be grown here: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/221/index.html

I saw Breynia plants for sale at last year's Nashville H&G show, and thought to myself shame on the vendor for selling that tender beauty to unsuspecting gardeners, especially when we're starved for beautiful plants in early March.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

If the plant doesn't cost much, buy it and give it a try. I purchased Breynia nervosa from a local nursery last year. The nursery assistant hinted that it wasn't a wise purchase since it wouldn't grow in our Zone 8a climate. It was on the costly side but so beautiful that I couldn't resist. I kept it in its pot in full sun until the weather turned cool, then I brought it in the house and placed it in a south-facing window where it received some direct sunlight. All the leaves gradually fell off and I thought it was a goner. I watered it sparingly and when danger of frost was over, it went back outside. It's leafed out now and is about the same size as when it was purchased, plus it has a new plant under the original where seed fell. It requires copious amounts of water during active growth.
