I got to meet Weeds and Floridian today. :-))) I picked up Crimsontsavo this morning and we waited with much excitement until Connie and Stacy arrived. They are soooo nice!!
We visited in the screen room for awhile and they got to meet the dogs...lots of face licking and lap wallering. My crew just doesn't understand NO. LOL
Then we were off for a walk out back and to the creek. Stacy took lots of pictures..a walk with her is not quick. hehehe When we got to the creek it was time to go wadeing while Jocelyn tried to catch little fishies.
Back at the house they got to see the baby wrens. Hopefully Stacy's pics are better then the two I got. Lunch time. Gave them the choice of lunch in the AC or outside with a view. Even though we were all HOT it was lunch with a view in the screen room. Stacy was up and down taking pics, but her camera kept trying to focus on the screen so we moved to the patio.
3:30 when they needed to leave came much too quickly. It was so much fun meeting them. I totally enjoyed myself...felt like we had known each other for a long time!!
Connie thank you for the plants and dropping Jocelyn off,but then I knew ya'll would want to see her jays and yard. I can't wait till we can get together again!
We had FUN!!!
That was SO much fun!!!!!!
Those two gals are fabulous!
LOL- kept apologizing when my jay hopped into a tree! It wasnt your fault Floridian! :-D
Floridian even let me use HER camera! In the WATER no less! It was scary- kept thinking I was gonna drop it! LOL.
Can't wait to see if the Darters and Puppies turned out good.
Oh my, I'm yelling, heheh.
Next time I will make sure my yard isnt such a wreck. Can't see the flowers for all the other stuff! LOL.
Hope Y'all had a good time! ((hugs))
We sure did. :D
Here's hoping they come back in the fall!!
OOOPS...just realized I spelled Stacey's name wrong. Sorry 'bout that..40 lashes with a kiwi or olive. LOL
Ladies, where are the pictures???? I need to see pictures!!
Okay, I will wait...........
:^)))
Molly
Gotta wait on Stacey...she was the only one tacking pics.
I was almost afraid to look at this post. LOL Hey, I've seen some of your photos. Then I read crimsontavo was involved....HAHAHAHAHA Okay, I'll behave now. And WHERE are the pictures?? Oh Stacie...........I'm so jealous and SOOOO far away. I can't believe I missed a chance to meet Connie too. When are you all headed to Ohio? ;)
LOL... Chele you are such a nut. And what's wrong with some of my pictures? Never mind..we won't go there.
Hey everybody!
What a great day we had!!!!! That was so much fun and my 3 companions are great people, what a group we are. I enjoyed myself trememdously and even if Ginger can't take pics Badseed, she can certainly COOK! I just sat there and let her wait on me. I think a trip to Ohio is in order, what about it gang?
I loved all the dogs, my gosh, I haven't been loved on like that in a long time!
We are definitely getting together again. Jocelyn, those are the cutest puppies this side of the Mississippi! And, glad you got Takota back, I thought Stacey was gonna freak out. (there's a word from the past)
Stacey is on her long drive back and we will all anxiously await her pictures. she took a thousand i think..
LOL Connie....I think that Badseed was referring to the contents of some of my pics rather then the quality!
The dogs were so tired after ya'll left...it's hard work loving on "fresh meat" so to speak. All they did was sleep.
I have no doubt that Stacey could have taken 1000 pics...couple 100 at the least. Can't wait to see what she posts.
Waiting in anticipation here!
Heck, if you'll come to Ohio, I'll slobber on ya too! LOL I have two dogs and a cat and six kids. You'll have plenty of love! I can't wait til Stacey gets home!
Us, too, us, too! We'll slobber and globber on y'all right along with Chele and her kids and critters. :)
me to...me to.... please Stacey, we want to see lots of pretty pictures.
Donna
Are y'all waiting on me??!! Sorry about the delay! I'm still tired. The heat just saps your energy and Connie and I went non stop in it...but what fun!!
I couldn't have been made to feel more at home by Connie and her mom. Walking into her house you can just feel yourself relax. We had a great time and found lots of great Florida native plants on our outings.
Ginger and Joce, what great fun. We chatted non stop and everyone paced themselves to my walk through the 'woods'. Such a beautiful walk, gopher tortoise dens, wildflowers and playing in the crystal clear creek! ((Ginger is the best hugger that I've had the pleasure to hug in a long time))I can hardly wait to see you all again...when's our next long weekend?? LOL
I didn't take people pictures for some reason, though I wish I'd gotten pictures of our armed snake patrol, Gins and her DH!
Here's a picture of the infamous D-O-G during a quiet moment
Awwww, D*O*G! Mornin', Stacey! I can relate to neglecting to take people pictures...When there's so many bugs, flowers and four-foots around, it makes a body's head spin!
*blush* Stacey you give good hugs too!! and your comment to me when ya'll left really meant a lot.
I know we girls and the dogs had a blast, but Bill has said several times how much he enjoyed the visit as well. Love the pics of the dogs! can't wait to show Bill. The grasshopper on the cactus bloom is wonderful.
Joce and I are both looking foreward to a visit to Connie's,hopefully soon. Long weekend? bring it on!!!
Stacey, ALL great photos... but I especially like the Calamintha ashei with it's "sunbrella" over the main part of the flower!
I'm sure glad I found this thread...sounds like you all had a great time and fantastic pics to boot!! :D
Such GREAT pictures!!! Me and mum are drooling here. :D Imma go post some more puppy pics you took! LOL
Hey Floridian, about time!!!!! Great pics as usual. Can't wait for the rest of them in the database.
Ginger, 40 lashes with a kiwi or olive? LOL Hmmm No grape?? Be sure to tell Bill we had a wonderful time and it was great to meet him too.
Connie I put several plants and pictures in the PDB but there are lots of flowers still not IDed. I'll try to send you out another zip today, get out your wildflower books!! LOL I'm trying to squeeze a lot into work time too. Thank goodness though we're very busy.
Darius and Pam, thanks. I'm going to send the possible Calamintha off to Dr Wunderlin and see if I can get a positive ID on it. Hehehe I'll probably be sending several pictures to him. Connie and I found so many native plants, most of them in a single huge field. It was awesome. Many I'd only seen in pictures since they don't grow this far south. It was exciting
I'll start a wildflower thread over in the Wild Plant forum.
Jaws, Give your mom a hug, she's wonderful! Here's another picture of the escapee, Takoda, sitting on the roof. I was worried you wouldn't get her back and I know how you love your critters...and everyone elses :)
Wonderful pics! But, ummm, where are the people pics?? LOL
Stacey...was the possible Calamintha at my house or elsewhere? if that's what it is and it was here should I notify someone?
I dont think we took people pics! LOL- just animals and flowers. Next time I'll make them hold still and get a couple!
Good idea crims
:^))))
Molly
Ginger, the Calamintha is on your property. After researching I believe what you have isn't C ashei because it is not known to occur in Bay County but...I now believe it is C dentata that only occurs in 7 counties in your area of Florida. This one is endangered as well. We need to get a positive ID on it. Ha! There's several that need a positive ID. To answer your question, yes, I'm sure that there are people that would like to know that you have nice healthy plants on your property...
that's a question I'll ask Dr W. when I finally get all the pictures and the letter together to send him. Boy, It takes a
lot of research to ID one little plant! LOL
Sorry, no people pictures, we were all *so* hot and sweaty! It was worth every moment too!
A Tampa Tribune staff writer, Neil Johnson, started an article on the heat and humidity with this line..."If you've ventured outside in the past few days, you know what the featured attraction at a clambake feels like." How funny and true!!
Wow, that is cool to have it on your property ginger! Floridian, thanks for the plant pics and others, am watching the database as you add to it. What a treat, I may go by the field this weekend and am starting a bog garden later this summer in my yard!
You lucky thing to be able to watch this field throughout the summer and on. I'll bet you see new plants every time you go!
Have you got your wildflower books out?? IDs in progress?? LOL
Your gardens are lovely and a bog garden will look super! How's your pup? Glad to see the last of the lady with the funny head??
(I scared the poor thing when I had a towel wrapped around my head, hehehe scared Connie too!!) Give Miss Virginia a hug too!
Those are both very good pictures!! Y'all are great photographers!
Sounds like you had a great time. Great pictures.
Thanks Mystic, is was a lot of fun. crimson, Flordian took those pictures too! I don't do that good!
Connie...your pup looks like it's a relative of Bear! or maybe has some rr?
Interesting about that one flower on my property....maybe I could get a grant for not cutting. LOL
