Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Very pretty Gretchen!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Delicate looking bloom. Great picture Gretchen.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thanks all! Unfortunately, she's looking a whole lot like Frosty. Not that that's a bad thing as I love Frosty, I was just hoping for what I saw in the ABADS album, something a little different. We'll see what this evening brings...

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Although its similar in color, this is not a Frosty. Her skirt is more ruffled and her scent is completely different. Here is the bloom from last night, which is fully opened:

Very pretty, Gretchen.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thanks, Ada. Its a different flower, not as "stiff" as my Frosties...

Here is a side by side comparison of a Frosty bloom and a Coral bloom taken at the same time tonight on new flowers just opening tonight. Am I crazy, or are they different??? Thanks to you all!

They look different to me. LOL

Thanks, Ada -- I appreciate you taking the time to look at it! Gretchen

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Gretchen, when mine blooms, I'll compare the blooms here.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

the skirts look so flowing! Great pictures Gretchen!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Very pretty. Great picture too.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I love it. It is so feminine. Then, of course, I think I like all of them. LOL

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

I've had a hard time finding pictures of this one. Mine got darker by about the third night, did yours? zone 8b, about the third late afternoon.

Same flower, later in the night..

Lagata: Is yours an Insignis Coral or a Frosty. I think its nearly impossible to tell the flowers apart. Mine is much darker today, but then, so is Frosty... The IG came from a respected grower, so I'm believing that's what it is. It looks much different in the daylight. Here it is about 15 minutes ago -- roughly 10 AM, overcast and windy:

Edited to thank mini, shelly and datdog! I appreciate your comments! And, lagata -- thanks for your pictures -- beautiful!

Frosty hasn't bloomed for me yet this year, but is about to. I'll compare then if IC is also in bloom. From memory, this is much darker than FP ever got for me, and the bloom itself thicker, with the corolla tube wider. Sooner or later they'll be blooming at the same time, and I'll have more than just memory to guide me. Great pics by the way, and I'm glad you shared them.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thank you Lagata -- it'll be nice to have another opinion, but my mind is made up. Its definitely not the same, and I think its much prettier! I had placed it in a ery prominent place in my garden, and so happy I did. Now if I could get rid of the darn mites! Spent two hours scrubbing leaves of all the brugs this morning...

Dee -- you are welcome to a cutting or two this Fall. Just remind me!!! I'm glad you like it :) Gretchen

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

I don't think it's the same either. I almost didn't plant this one at all; after all, it didn't even have a "real" name! Actually, I think at this time it's my #2 favorite after butterfly, due to it's deep color, and it's tendency to look nice during daylight hours. Even the old ones still look pretty good hanging there. They have already been crossed both ways ;)

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

I agree! The original bloom is still looking great. No brown edges and no evidence of wind damage, and its been windy here. The Frosty bloom that I compared this to is long since gone...

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Gretchen, thanks for sharing your great pictures. The pink is such a delicate shade. I really like it. Donna

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thanks, Donna! I really like it too -- my favorite brug to date :) Gretchen

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

I want a pink that smells really loud (that you can smell all across the yard) any one know which one this would be?
Maybe some of my seedlings or cuttings this year from others will be this way.
My deep pink sav has little or no fragrance at all. that coral is gorgeous gretchen, i don't have that one , I think i have some seeds crossed with it though. i will have to germinate some. I really do like starting from seeds now compared to getting cuttings from someone, It is more special to see soem thing new and never seen before, ya know.
Lagata that pic is so dark is it really that dark?Or just the camera? beautiful!! Is it also Insignis Coral?
Great Great, Job ladies keep the pictures coming

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Hi Amanda -- I was just thinking of you this morning as I did my morning rounds of the garden! I will be happy to share cuttings of this one with you, but its not loud at all. It has a delicate scent that you have to get on top of to smell. I may end up agreeing with you on the seedlings. Not only are you getting something fresh and new, but they tend to make prettier plants than cuttings...IMHO. We need to see some more pix of your brugs!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Great pics gretchen! I do not have Insignis Coral but to my eye, it looks prettier than Frosty from your pics. As more and more people hybridize, there are going to be many more look alikes available. It will be impossible to keep them all staight.

Amanda, I was trying to remember which brug smelled terrible the other night. I hated it! My arborea has the best smell I think in my yard. It carries a distance.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

They look different to me Gretchen. The FP looks likes it's further out of the calyx than the IC, and the IC looks more waxy. But that's my humble opinion. They are lovely flowers and I bet your drive and garden are just beautiful. Keep posting. Linda

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I love pictures taken before the blooms are totally open. They remind me of colored stars. Very pretty and all the pictures are great.

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

SS, yes, it's IC and no, it isn't the camera. All of my pinks seem to be much darker than I recall from last year; maybe this heat, with cool nights? Some of my EP blooms have turned darn near red! OTOH, nearly all were wintered over in the GH, so maybe that made a difference?

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Kell, I think its prettier and the bloom lasts three times longer than Frosty. These blooms are still on the plant, although by the end of today, probably not -- its 100 here now and still climbing. And I'm taking my lunch break from mowing!

Mee too, Shirley! And both my pictures were taken at virtually the same time, so why one looks shiny and not the other is beyond me. Must've been the way the sun hit it...

Back to the mower..................

PS: MG -- thanks, they are definitely different, it just took me a while to see the differences.

After seeing Gretchen's picture of this one, I've been trying to find a source to purchase one. Anyone know who might sell it?
