If you go to the Plants Database homepage, and scroll all the way down, you'll see a link that says "» Add a new plant to the list"; just click that.

To add to Paul's note, (which is spot on correct ;o) be sure to enter the correct family and genus name in addition to the cultivar. Properly completing the name fields will ensure that any details unique to this genus will display (such as flower type, size, daylily blooming seasons, etc.)

And if you know the hybridizer (last name only) and year of intro, you can add that in parentheses.

So, for a new daylily, you would enter the fields as:

Common Name: Daylily
Family: Hemerocallidaceae
Genus: Hemerocallis
Species: [leave blank]
Cultivar: ABC (Smith, 2001)

Note that you do not need to add single quote marks (') around the cultivar name - the database will automatically add them, as well as italicize the botanical name.

You also don't need to add the pronunciation - it will also appear automatically (we occasionally get entries where that information was added.)

If you need any more help, just holler!

Thanks Terry and Paul. I will try to get them set up
