she, the drug dealer was told to move, and moved out last night. Haven't seen her around, but was told to keep an eye on the property - YOU BETCHA I will.

Another thing came to mind, as I was sitting on the front porch tonight.............

You definitely did a very good thing for someone in serious need of help! It's amazing what neighbors and friends can do to help one another if they just take the time to check on them and notice problems. I have found the law officers to be very kind and helpful when abuse is reported.

I just never understand how some people can take advantage of an older or disabled person, but I have seen it happen before, even with very intelligent victims. There are many reasons the victims allow this to occur, love and fear being the most common.

I missed what happened. Did one of you call for assistance for him? How was it handled?

I'm glad at least one burden has been lifted, and you have definitely proven your recent hypothesis to be incorrect!

Thank you much for helping one of "my" folks. I work with a lot of older adults, and actually the living conditions some have to bear. Praises to anyone who steps up and makes a very important difference in their lives!

Dee was in Iowa when this was all happening. I had talked with her husband Russ, but it just doesn't seem that these men make things happen like us gals. As soon as she got home and we had a chance to talk - VOILA! amazing!

I do trust her and love her like you cannot imagine. She's more than a neighbor - she's a key.

Cool Deal Karrie, just remember to keep any notes if she or any of her "friends" show up again. How is the gentleman taking this, is he getting someone else in to help him that will really help him. Dont want to forget about him still needing someone around.

I haven't seen her for two days - so hopefully she has brought her business to her new neighborhood (unfortunately for them). I will wait until the weekend is completely over and go visit him, see what I can do for him. Dee told me that he feels "relieved".

Great! If it helps him too, let him know hes had alot of people concerned for him. Alot of times thats the biggest help of all, knowing someone else cares whether you know them or not.

Karrie, if your neighbor is vulnerable, or lonely, it would be easy for another unscrupulous person to take advantage of him. Just because she is gone, someone she knew might have seen the "setup" she had and decide to take advantage of it. You need to be the "Pied Piper" that gets a bunch of neighbors involved to each help him maybe one day a week.

Sometimes when all of your energy is taken up with fighting a disease, your concentration and analytical thinking isn't what it should be. If he knows he has a network of neighbors to rely on, he would be less apt to fall victim to someone like her again.

Terre - Dee and I both plan on helping him. Hopefully, if he can qualify for it, we can get a REAL NURSE to go in a check on him, as well. We're working on it!
