PDB language template

Ever thought about expanding PDB with user selectable language templates?
I'm sure many current members can help with translations in a multitude of languages and implementation might help increase the rather disappointing international Member count.

Do search engines look through the Web worldwide or primarily the home-country? I rarely get results from even other English-speaking parts of the world.
So DG might not show up much outside the US.

Search engines usually will show hits of the words searched for no matter what the country of origin unless you limit it to one country only.
Though many people speak/read/understand in some way or form English (something like 15% of the worlds ~6.4 Billion population, only 5.6% pop with english as mother tongue) they may not know the Common Name, botancial expression,...etc in their native language so that's what they'll search for and thus would never get a hit with DG.

Yes Lophophora, this was a similar idea in that thread, only I wanted to go further and have the whole page in a user selectable language.
I'm sure that would make the largest plant database in the world even larger and more popular to the world :)

I like the i18n idea. Maybe one day. Folding that kind of stuff into the code is a tremendous undertaking. Look for it on the TODO, but I can't say how long until it happens.

Yep I do not doubt the work involved to add more languages.

Think about it, the member count may reach over 500K in a few month once you add Cantonese to mix :)

ö = Alt + 148
Ö = Alt + 153
ü = Alt + 129
Ü = Alt + 0220
ß = Alt + 0223

Thank goodness! Babelfish only gets me so far and some of those translations! Well...let's just say I was thorougly confused when......

Ulrich - you're right it does work correctly I went "Back" to get to the translation I was copying and needed to go "Back" one more page. My point is when......

is translated to.....

"Well there schau ago, and of from where? My family comes of the ashtrays and Carlsbad area."

WHAT in the world does THAT mean?? "my family comes of the ashtrays??? And..."well there schau ago, and of from where?" ;-D

That one is somewhat gibberish alright. It should say: "Well lookie there, and from where (do you come)?
My family comes from the Ascher und Karlsbader area."

So, Panamon, where are YOU from originally?
