Jason, I emailed you but haven't heard back. Please check your mail.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Lillypon,I have a sunroom a greenhouse and a garden room, and there full to the top during the wintertime!!!LOOh yes and a garage.

Interlachen, FL

Got it Brugie!

Dear Back, Keep in mind that the Island of Borneo has 120 inches of rainfall, Beverly Hills has 20 inches of rainfall annually. You will have to water the plant very often.
Also, your average low temperature in January is 50 degrees celcius. Plants of this type go dormant at 45 degrees. So, in essence, there is a distinct possibility that Alocasia in your area do not even go dormant ! Which is a huge plus, when it comes to maximum plant size, which is the basis of your question. -Thank You.

AA, can you suggest a combo of the largest black & lime combo that will grow here & where I can get the largest plants. Patience is not one of my virtues! I want the biggest & the quickest!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Tropicman I had a feeling your greenhouse couldn't house all your treasures!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Now I'm really worried for some reason I have more now than last year!!LOL

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

paULA HERE ON B'S THING. WHAT A LOT OF GREAT PLANTS. IS THERE AN AI IN THE PLANT WORLD? BRIN?

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hey P....how's it going? Sorry it took me so long! I was cruising around ebay looking at all the ee's from Baylove! LOL Now I'm doomed....where will I put all of them?

Did you get a name yet? Use TinyDancer! I love it and it fits you! Hey Jay Leno was great last night! You're just too cute!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

So many gorgeous EE's and it would be so difficult to pick out favorites. Root what was the name of the one you gave me at Tracey's? I knew I should have written it down.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Alocasia Macrorrhiza.

Edit to say I like TinyDancer!

BAMBI , I'd go with Tall Fontanessi and lime zinger. Where could you get'em, me of course! LOL (Trade)

I've superimposed a black magic and lime zinger to see what it would look like so please excuse me if its the "cheesiest" pic you're ever seen !

MM; is that really you?
Good to have you back. We've missed you.

Sorry folks, just got excited about seeing an old friend here posting.
No pictures of my EE as they aren't very big yet. All are in a new bed that is 28 feet long and probably 4 feet wide and I have right around 30 EE that I planted this year.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Root, can't wait to see this beauty get big. I looked at a picture of a grown one and I am thrilled that you shared this one with me.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Those two colors would look great together.

Interlachen, FL

The only problem is: the colocasia is much faster growing and will eventually engulf the small xanthosomas underneath.(via runners) It would be a high maintanance deal.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

It is a great combo!

How about keeping the 'Zinger' in containers?
Then you could elevate them to keep showing them off.

We throw Ipomea 'Margarite' vines in w/ the Black Magic and Black Runner w/ much the same effect.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Gosh! Im enjoying all the pics!! Yall have such beauties.

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

I can't believe it... there is a house being remodeld 2 doors away from me. I see about 100 black magic (5 gal?), 50 giant timber bamboo, 50 red nanas (short) probably 15 gal a lot of black stem & other really cool stuff I can't identify.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I would talk to the contractor that is putting them in Bambi, this is what I do for a living,I am sure they will be happy to talk to you, tell you where they get them from, and if it was me,I would probably set up up with one or two.

Iowa Park, TX(Zone 8a)

Just lovely pictures. Thanks for sharing your "big beauties". I had no ideal they could actually get THAT large!

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Root, Can you come for a visit? I know the plants that I love.... but have no clue where they should go or what should be planted with them. I really need a landscape designer big time!!! Don't you need a vacation to BH? We'd have so much fun!!!! I'll even get you a monkey.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL!! You never know where Root will show up!! I may just overwork my senses trying to plant a garden out there,I would not know how to act, being able to plants in theground and not dig them up in the fall!

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

When can you come????

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hey Doc....get out there and help Bambi!!! You would have a blast!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

My wife says go for it!LOL!! I would be a nutcase in GHs out there!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Root,

Come on out and we will show you around some great nurseries. You have to know that our nurseries don't have many GH's as our weather is so mild that tropicals grow outside year round.
You come and help out miss Bambi and I'll even come up there will my shovel and trowels and help ya out. lol

Bet you wouldn't want to leave here when you see the tropicals that grow wild here.

Donna

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Donna,I was just thinking of you!! not 5 minutes ago!!

Rootdoctor. What kind of banana is that ? Is it perennial? Bear edible fruit? I trying to find out more about some cold hardy bananas that produce edible fruit.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

This one is not hardy here,I do have some hardy ones,I will put up a pic tomorrow. They have not bloomed yet.

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

Not huge... but kinda cool anyway. I can't figure out why I can't get Black Magic to grow well here... maybe it's "black thumb"

Or maybe its not a Black Magic. Send me a pic of the suspect.
Black Magic grows like a weed, and you should have no prob.
