Lucky you!
Good Ideas.

I love the rocks around your cooking pit. I never realized you could cook in them. I bet it smells wonderful. Here we call them fire pits and just sit around them and sometimes we toast marshmallows. In Miami I was lucky enough to have Cuban neighbors that had a BIG pit that they roasted a whole pig in for holidays. It was an all day affair, and the smells and the music were enjoyed by the whole neighborhood!

Your DH is definitely a keeper.

You're going to have lots of fun this summer with dutch oven and tables enjoying the breeze and watching the birds.

Your yard looks very inviting. Hang on the DH - it's nice to have a creative type around. See you are feeding hummers too. My regular hummer is back using her usual place for nesting. Makes me happy to see her each spring.

Really like the new stuff. Wish now that I had not given my
Dutch oven to my sister for her Girl Scout stuff-looks like some really good stuff for eating will be coming out of that .
How did he "tune" the pipes for the chimes?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks guys for all the compliments, marcia,? what does that mean, guess you know he didn't do that, it's not making much noise, I saw one at walmart similar to his, he needs to put a round piece of wood hanging in the center to clang up against the pipes to help make noice, and another piece of thin round wood at the verybottom where that piece of plastic thingy is, he's still working on trying to make it make more sound. I think this will help though, what does tune mean,?

Blooms with a view, I'm doing something wrong with the hummers, haven't been many at all. can't figure it out, got 2 other red feeders in plain view for them, somewhere else in the yard. their just not coming around like they use to. guess they need time. went somewhere the other day and they had about l0 feeders out and I sat there watching about 50 hummer s it was unreal she said she fills them 2 times a day l0 of them takes 2 l/2 gal of sugar water for them, they looked like babies too. I was so envious of her. LOL they were right out in the middle of the yard not close to where they might get bothered by anthing, thinking I need to move mine somewhere else to see if they come around.

I don't do anythng for them but the same coupl been coming back for years. I made a decision not to hang a feeder as I didn't want them to become dependent on me. I might want to go somewhere for a week or so. And I read that this could be devastating to the hummers.
A friend keeps a dozen or more with so many feeders hanging that they actually stop teritorial stuff and eat. It's great fun to stop up and have coffee on his porch.
Sorry not to be more help. Blooms

Kathy_ann:
There is a hummers forum, they have been discussing what solution to put in feeders... I don't have feeders, don't need 'em as I have so many salvias and other Lamiaceae (and other nectar sources, they like the abutilons too and even the gladiolus) that I see them every day anyway; so I am no help either.

When I did have feeders, I had to get two and put them on opposite sides of the house... they are so territorial that with only one feeder, one bird would spend all his time guarding it -- not even eating much, and no one else could either!

I have seen pics with 4-5-6 hummers eating from the same feeder, but don't know how they do it!
