Theres a mouse in the house!

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

Much to my suprise in the last few days we have caught 6 mice in the house under our kitchen sink! I knew there was one by all the sounds and Sadie our dog acting up. We have a few acres of land and are used to getting a field mouse now and then but this is a record after living here 25 yrs.....Does any one have some "mouse" stories? The little guys are not my favorite I hope they find another place to hang out!!!!!

It sounds like you had a family nesting there and they grew up. We get mice here regularly, especially in the fall. It's hard to prevent the little critters from getting in. We try to seal everything, especially around plumbing lines. We stuff steel wool into any little crevaces and you can now buy that foam insulation in a aerosol can and fill in cracks.
I have a very sensitive nose so when a neighbor-friend had a bad smell in her house, she asked me to see if I could find it. I knew the minute I walked into her usually fresh, clean house, that she had a dead mouse. I followed the scent until I found a darkened place in the wall, and would you believe, a few maggots on the floor. Sure 'nuff, a dead mouse in the wall! She had 2 choices, either cut into the wall and remove it ( a lovely job), or wait a few more days and it would dry up in her wall. She was not thrilled by my options. By the way, I am NOT for rent.

i have had them too. I have cats also so that does help. i use those little blue pellets and they work.

my cats will kill them for me but thats after trying to get them for hours.

I refuse to use that fly-paper stuff for mice. It is just too cruel. I use traps. Very fast.

Woodspirit, thanks for the hint on putting steel wool around the pipes.....I will pick some up tomorrow. We haven't seen anymore for now so I have my fingers crossed.

I hate those sticky traps too. I usually just set the kill traps or put out a fast acting poison in places I'm sure my pets can't get to.

Three cats. No mice. No roaches. Everything that moves is fair game. :))

Meems, I had a mouse run across my foot once whilst sitting on the potty AND talking on the phone to my SIL. I screamed in her ear, dropped the phone, jumped off the pot...well, I don't want to conjure up any more pictures for you here....Oh...I never caught the mouse.

And one more, we have had a lot of mice this year. I went and got a cat who is very good at mousing. But one night before I had Cleo, I was talking to my daughters (we may have been discussing all the mice we had had recently). I turned to my right and there on the floor was a mouse, just sitting there. I screamed and ran, called for DH. He didn't come. Went back out and I'll be darned if that mouse wasn't still in the same spot...I nudged it to see if it were dead, when it occured to me that my kids were probably setting me up and put a play mouse there. Called DH to come and see it again, this time he came. The mouse didn't move. My valiant knight in shining armor grabs a roll (almost empty) of wrapping paper and proceeds to hit the mouse with it. I'm thinking that's not even going to rattle his brains. This time the mouse moved.....not a fake one! But DH sent him to his demise and he was disposed of.

Yuck, yuck, yuck......I hate mice, all except for Minnie and Mickey....

:) Happy Night...Kathy
