Peter's Excel

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I thought there was a fertilizer forum, but didn't find one so I thought I'd see if anyone has found Peter's Excel anywhere. I saw a discussion about it last year, but it wasn't being sold to the general public like at a Lowe's or Home Depot or garden centers. Anyone know if it is available now?

why not ask your local nurseryman?
I for one am always happy to tag a few extra bags to an order.

PETER! LOL!

Scotts .......
I 'think' they make almost ALL of the popular ferts, like MG, etc., etc.

Well, I asked, because Peter's brand of fertilizers is a whole other line of products. They're manufactured by Spectrum (United Industries) out of St. Louis. I hadn't heard of Excel before, so didn't think it was a "Peter's" product (Spectrum line). Did I just make this all more confusing? :)

Why would there be two Peters/Peter's fertilizers made by different companies? That's just plain dumb.

miracle grow bought out peters...
so Jack Peters (the previous owner) started the fertilizer line "jacks"

same stuff...

Uh ... OK ! It's all clear now.

After reading about Excel and being unable to find it around here, I found it online at a reasonable price.........except for the shipping!! It is tagged as a "hazardous material". Does anyone know why?

BTW,the product was $24.99, the shipping was $16.00. Yikes!

All fertilizer is considered hazardous. You can't fly with it. I found that out a few years ago. There are a few silly people out there who can make bombs from some of the ingredients in fertilizer.

I use Scotts Super Cal Mag, and I think it is a lot like Peters. I went on the web site and found a place not far from my house to buy it, so maybe Peters has a web site too.

If you set nitrate of soda on fire, you can't get it to stop. Yes, fertilizers, in their strongest form, can be used as a bomb. That's what brought down the Murrah Building in OK.

Actully, I already had my "to do" list for today to ask a couple of local nurserymen. I like the Excel because it is supposed to have micro-nutrient and not just NPK.

Sigh...bombs, that's right.

Maybe I'll just stick to composted horse manure.
