I met VGMKY :)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Ralph and I just had a 'meeting' in Louisville to promote a book that came out today. Ralph did a talk on sustainable agriculture and the need for people to look in their own backyard again for the freshest produce and best. :)

Gary (VGMKY) came over to the bookstore and introduced himself and brought me some goodies. Gary, I will let you know how all the tomatoes do and we remembered to put the tomato paste in the fridge. :) It got pretty hot out there and I had a nice conversation with Jim, Gary. A nice man. He wants to come out to the farm, perhaps you guys could come out together.

What a sweet, sweet man Gary is. Both Ralph and I enjoyed meeting him very much and look forward to getting together again. Darius, he told me you said hello :) I told him you were right up there with the best too :)

Happy Day, Kathy

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Kathy that is so great. What is the book that was being promoted?

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

50 Ways to Love Your Country for the MoveOn Organization. While we are not directly involved with the organization, we did get a request to speak because we are passionate about we do and the fact that we choose to stay within our local community and share the goodies here. :) The book has 50 stories in it about people that have done things as activists in one way or another for this country. I've not read it, but did buy it and will read it soon. Some valid topics/points were brought up by the 8 speakers there and I was very proud of Ralph, as usual, for his willingness to stand and be heard. :)

Wow way to go Ralph! I am sure he made a great impression.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Sounds like a great time enjoyed by all. This is so neat when this computer medium brings people who enjoy the same things together.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Internet is amazing and DG is the best! :)

Gary, My mother is actually Katharine. My name is Kathleen, but I go by Kathy :) Ironic that they should both have the same spelling though. As far as meeting Shoe, Shoe and I have been friends for a long time, internet friends. We were friends before DG was even founded. I think we met at the Poultry Connection, but I honestly can't remember....Finally met last fall at the KY RU and he is everything he's cracked up to be and then some. We just love Shoe, like family in NC. :) Hoping Shoe will make his way to Misty Meadows Farm one of these days.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Shh..Kathy, you're telling our ages! ;>)
And, by the way..."at the KY RU and he is everything he's CRACKED up to be and then some"!! (You think she's trying to tell me sumpin', folks?)

Drop by when you're in the area, Gary...these stompin' grounds haven't changed that much since you were here yrs ago.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, you did crack us up Shoe!!! :) You're the greatest!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

oh lucky you!!!!!!!!

Verona, ON

Kathy,
You didn't tell me about this important event. Congratulations to you both. Bet Ralph did a bang up job with his speech. I've been trying to find you and Ralph one of those signs I mentioned before that we see up here
No Farms
No Food
No Future
No luck yet but when I do I'll mail it on down. I can't think of a sign that is more appropriate for a working farm than that one.
Hope you have a great day ... so glad you got to meet Gary. D
