Thanks Dave

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Dave, a you know, in Turkey I cant get online very often, and when I do it's very frustrating because of the internet connection. One of the best aspects of my trip back home was being able to come on to Dave's daily, several times a day and basically all day. I've missed my home away from home, I've had a great time re-visiting all my buddies here. I even managed to have a mini round up with a couple of our members.
THANK YOU DAVE FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE TO MAKE THIS SITE THE BEST GARDENING COMMUNITY IN THE WORLD.
When I tell my friends in Turkey about Dave's they cant believe it, I am trying to get some people from Bodrum signed up, but as I said, the internet is not what it is here.....

My best wishes for continued success, and I will try to visit Dave's more often when I go back.
cheers!!

Pebble-- I haven't really ever had a chance to talk with you here (I think you moved recently around the time I joined DG last June)...... but I wanted to tell you that your posts leading up to your return to the US, and then others since yr return (including the mini-RU you had), have been a joy to "watch" as a lurker! LOL! I've gotten a real kick out of your delight and joy and eagerness to be back "home". Further your delight since you've been home is 10-fold what it was before you left Turkey. Anyways...I ramble on.... I'm curious if the internet access in Turkey is a land-line based or satellite based system? I would bet satellite would get reliable service but perhaps with intermittents as well.

As I've watched all the anticipation.....from time to time I stop and think about the frustration you must feel "disconnected" from the outside world. Then I start to think about others in our DG family that may have to battle similar obstacles. It's a shame we can't all have equal access to the technology of our era. Wouldn't it be a lot better world to live in if we all had access to communicate with each other on a daily basis....on a personal level....getting to really know each other. As we all know DG gives us, the gardeners of the world, a place to reach across boundaries and be friends.....nay...FAMILY (as I so often hear DG members proclaim!).

That sure is a perfect world to me........

Lang, disconnected is a mild word to describe what I feel, more like I am in a different planet. I am not sure about the internet system there, other than it is slow...very slow.
I've enjoyed being able to get on Dave's as often as i like and have all the posts pop up instantly.
As my trip nears to an end, I am dreading going back to only checking in at dave's once in a blue moon. But you'd be amazed at how easily one adapts, and doest fret about checking e-mail 3-4 times a day. days, weeks go by without me even coming near a computer.....
