sun too hot for deck

Grand Rapids, MI(Zone 6a)

I sat all of my plant starts outside on my back deck yesterday and the sun burnt some of leaves on the plants. I think my problem is because I have privacy sides around the deck and there is no air circulation. If I put some fans outs there to get the air moving will that help stop the leaves from burning?

I dont know about the fans, but I lost a clematis that I had separated from the mother plant in hopes to propogate, but left the little guy out on the deck in a small pot, we had 3 sunny days and it too got burned leaves. the mother plant was fine though.
Good luck to you.

Wrong plant, wrong place? Plants (especially seedlings) are a bit like us - they need to build up their tolerance for sun (assuming they are sun-loving plants to begin with.) Most plants will benefit from a gradual introduction to a full-sun situation: set them out for an hour, then put them back indoors, or in a shady spot. The next day, a couple hours, then retreat...after a week or so, they should be fully prepared to stay in full-sun allday.
