Golden Lady

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Is absolutely loaded. The wind did a little damage, broke a few blooms off, but she's still gorgeous. This one got pretty frozen during them move, but seems to like TX weather, this is her second flush.

How wonderful. I love this one.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Holy smokes,Wallpaper!!!!!
OK now you get a little sympathy, little being the key word, with blooms like this, you should feel sorry for us!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Exactly Root! She is living in a paradise!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Oh Root, it was horrible. I got mud on my toe while taking the picture. I was trying to reach my toe to wipe the mud off without making my back hurt worse, I lost my balance, my back side got all wet. It was awful! Did I tell you we had rain and it's cold here today????

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Yeah Susie...how chilly was it...com'on...make us all pity you...

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL!!! I thought I noticed a cloud in the sky, must be keeping those temps down.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It is chilly, it's only 61.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Golden Lady is a real looker. She really bloomed heavy for me last year. Beautiful picture.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

61??? yep no sympathy here!!! LOL,I hope your back gets better, thanks for taking us a pic.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Beautiful picture! Golden Lady will love the Texas heat. She loves warm temps.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

GL is so pretty Susie. I have never seen it bloom in person. Hopefully this year will be the year. It is chilly here and it rained a little earlier in the day. After sweating all last week, I am glad that it is cooler. I need to finish up all that I can tomorrow before it turns warmer by the end of the week.

I wish I had Kell's weather where the days are never hot.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You guys could send some of that warm weather up this way. LOL! Wouldn't it be great to have 80 degree days and 65 degree nights all summer.....I could sure handle it.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Susie it's beautiful. I guess I am not meant to have this one, the cuttings I have of it died and I am really babying all the seedling with her as a parent.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

I worked for years at a hair salon named Golden Girl Cosmetique. I'm going to have to get one of these. Especially since I'm not a girl any more! Ha! It's beautiful!

I received one from a dear friend here on Daves last summer. It bloomed during the winter in the gh a creamy color. I know, winter color. Where do I have to position it to get the deeper summer color? Monika said heat. But heat with sun? Or trapped semi-sun heat? I have always kept my doubles out of afternoon sun.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This one doesn't mind full sun all the time Liz. I got my best color out of her in the fall when she had some orange tint to her blooms. The blooms in this picture are all from Golden Lady.

Deb, your mail box is full again. Hope you see this.

Beautiful! Dont feel bad .. We are in same shoes.. It's chilly out here too.. it's 60's right now. Nasty weather.. too wet and muddy! Tomorrow night, it will be around 49's.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

So you're saying the color deepens in the fall like the other yellows. That makes me think cooler for color. Do you not get the color in the heat?

Orange Park, FL(Zone 8b)

Gosh, thats a beauty Cala!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Shirley ... working on it, just got home.

Beautiful Susie. Love the photo!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

In the heat, I don't get the color.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

So it needs heat but not too much heat? OK, mine is going to the north/east side of the house. It'll lose the sun by noon.
Thanks once again Shirley.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Liz, when I got the color out of her, she was in morning sun, but it was about 40-50 degrees outside. We had already had a hard frost, and I had her in the garage for those cold nights. Of course, she had her buds way before I moved her to the less sunny place. That was not intentional. It was to keep her and the others from freezing.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Interesting. I look forward to seeing what she's going to do here.
Our temps are like Kell's only a bit cooler. The nights cool down to the low 70s during the summer. Maybe that will do it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hope so. Anyway you look at her though, she is pretty.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Beautiful picture, Susie and Brugie.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Here is what she looked like last fall and like Brugie, I had mine in morning sun. This picture was taken October 18th

Beautiful Cala. Brugie It minds full sun here. That's what killed mine. Thanks for the replacement. I lost Golden Lady and Jessie Noel that I got from Glory and Amarillo Paja all planted in the full sun last spring.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

My GL only had orange tinted bloms once or twice, mostly it was cream colored so I do not think coolness has much effect!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The coolness has no effect! I have seen Golden Lady in color only once. This was two years ago, after a warm period with almost 90% humidity, the flowers showed color.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Brugie, do you find other brugs besides GL get better coloring as well in the cool fall weather?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I wouldn't say mine was in color either. I agree Monika, the cool doesn't do it, it is some other environmental factor.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

What about the Ph?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Or shorter day-length?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The best thing to do is to grow one yourself and see what works for your area. JMHO.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Mine didn't bloom until Fall of last year and the color stayed a creamy color. I hope it does better this year with it's color.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Spectacular Brug! Love that soft yellow color! She positively "glows"!! :~)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Even just creamy, it is dreamy! LOL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh Kell, you're a poet.
