What happened to the Spell Checker?

I have noticed that lately, when I hit the preview button, the preview is not highlighting my mispellings like it used to. Is it just me, or are others having the same problem? Thanks!

It's temporarily disabled while I work to get it to be faster. It was causing previews to take 3-10 seconds longer to go. That was an unacceptable amount of time for me...
