I have a pair of diamond earrings, on platimun posts. On the posts it's stamped INV 14KT. Does anyone know what INV stands for. (Maybe there not diamonds?) or maybe not platimun. I have been duped?!

help about a jewelry symbol
I think it stands for Inventory, but usually has a number stamped after it. Could be wrong here, just trying to figure it out myself from what I can find online.
I've just now found a place that makes me think it might stand for Investment. Boy, they sure make it hard to figure this stuff out.

This is just a guess, but maybe it means 14 karat gold investment casting. (Investment casting is just a particular casting process and there are 14 karat gold dental casting alloys.) If that's what it is, this would mean that the earrings are platinum plated over a 14 karat gold base.
