You were scheduled for a class? There are books from Lindsey's, reprints about your own forge. Pounding iron to keep sane and make money.

Frankay, the class was filled. I also tried for a coppersmithing class and it was filled too. I'll have to wait for fall classes.

(Locals get a discount of 50% so we're always on a waiting list in case the classes aren't filled. I just couldn't afford the full price.)

Thatns for the info. I'll check it out!

darius, what school? I have some friends/fellow farmers marketers that take classes up your way. They fell in love with NC and bought a chunck of land to retire on waaay back in the woods.

Darius, I'm so envious of you living close to that school. I've been looking at their catalogs for years hoping that some day I'll be able to take a class. Linda

Merkat, it's a great school, as is Penland, near where I lived before. I think the land here is more amenable (less rough and steep) plus all the buildings are fairly close to each other. The summer classes get a lot of floks who camp on the grounds rather than pay the dorm fee and the canaraderie is wonderful.

Besides classes, they also have lots of activities where the community is invited, like contra dancing on Fridays, and bluegrass music on Saturdays, plus lots more.

I have a couple of friends who have taught clases there, mostly potters.

Darius, If I ever get out of nursing school, maybe I'll finally be able to go. There are so many neat subjects taught there. Hope your move went ok, and you were able to get your Japanese maple. Linda
