Was the Net down for awhile?

From a little before 5 pm EST ( or 6 pm DG time), I could not pull up any site. I got "cannot find server". But my puter said I was indeed online. CallWave gets a big red X over the icon in the tray if I'm offline, but there was a yellow X, and if I put the cursor over it, it said that it was trying to log on??

I'd been playing a couple of rounds of PopCap Games' Zuma (blush) before I took a wee break to check for email and found I couldn't. Zuma cannot be played if you are offline, yet I could still play the game all during this mysterious shutdown.

I've got USADATANET dial up, but too "newbie" at puters to know if the Net went down or if it was datanet. Anyone else have any problems like this?

The whole net doesn't go down, but your ISP's connection to it might. It happens every so often. Check your ISP's website for a network status page and see if they had any reports of outtages in your area.

Thanks, GW! I checked but there's no "status page" with them. Guess they don't like to own up to stuff like that, LOL.
It was just very strange to be online, yet unable to "go" anyplace. Maybe it's a "Datanet specialty", some kind of "Limbo Land"?? I didn't try disconnecting, because I was afraid I would not be able to get back on again (and thus not be able to finish the Zuma game, "grin")

OUCH! Think I'd rather be sent to the Twilight Zone! Since Walt's demise, things haven't been the same with them. Makes me want to draw horns on the head of every Mike Eisner picture I see, LOL.

Just very glad that the whole net was still safe and sound out there. It would be pretty spooky if it did go down.

I tried to email some pics to a friend with a Hotmail acct today and they bounced. I called him to see what was up and he said his hotmail was down for awhile. Nothing in or out all day. I just re-sent them and so far they have remained in cyberspace and not returned to me. There may have been some kind of glitch messing with the system today.
