Okay for years I've had this dream that John Cougar Mellencamp came to our farm and we had a "farmfest" with all of our friends. It's a weekend long funtime. Now, my dreams have added James Taylor and Arlo Guthrie.
If any of these three wonderful singers perchance reads Dave's Garden, contact me. LOL
While I might be able to talk to Arlo, (both DH and I used to hang out with him in our earlier days, both from the same neck of the woods)....and Arlo, remember Woody's...? Anybody know James or John?..
LOL........Just my dream coming out in type here folks....
Does anyone else have recurring strange dreams? It would be fun to hear of those that want to share....be good now!
Oh and in my dreams they are helping us with the farm, between jam sessions, of course.
And Shoe, you are there!!! Dancing barefoot on the soft grass..with Alex and Alexandra. :)
Recurring Dreams
Kathy,
Nice dream! I do have one...waves...BIG waves. They crash in and wipe out everything and everyone. I've had that dream since I was small. It is a horrible dream because I love the water so much. I mentioned it to someone once and they told me that perhaps I have them when I am overwhelmed. That might have some truth.
I also used to dream of meeting Jimmy Buffett alot. haha. Maybe he should play at your farm dream too!
I know I had to be there as Im sitting here in my mellencamp jersey. Last summer I found his house in bloomington In! I have pictures all over-lookin at him now! HE IS MY IDOL!
It is my dream to have him come here too!!! I want him to come for my 50th birthday and have a "party" so Johnny that give you 5yrs to plan my bash! Bring Bruce Springstein with you!
I use to have a dream about this house and it had a secret room that was frightening-i figured out it was a house i had visited in my childhood-and now i never dream about it!
Notmartha, I'll be sure to put you on my invitation list if Johnny ever calls me...:) If he calls you, mention me, okay?
And Lisa, Jimmy Buffett would be fun there. We could have rename the farm Misty Margaritaville for the weekend...:)

I have had the same dream over and over. I am in an old house that we bought and I keep opening doors to completely furnished rooms - each door leads to another beautiful room - it goes on and on and on. We started our married life redoing a centennial farm and it seemed like there were dozens of small rooms - maybe it stems back to that. I really enjoy the dream tho!! No handsome singers in my dreams...
Maybe you are having the dream because you felt it was never ending, like the doors. I'd love to have a dream about a beautiful farmhouse with new/nice furniture in every room, many rooms. :) We'll have to work on a handsome singer for you Sarv. :)
You know that JT wrote the song Sweet Baby James on a drive to Arlo's house. That's true...and it's not about him...it was about his new nephew at the time who was named for him.
(needless to say...I'm a fan of all things JT)
Saw him live in '76.....yeah, I'm that old.
Sometimes I dream of Horseshoe wearing pink toenail polish and Howie wearing a teira singing show tunes.....
;)
I try to block it out, but it keeps haunting me.
Yes, Melody. I was born and raised in The Berkshires and Arlo lived about 7 miles from us. We used to all hang out in our teenage years at a rock joint called Woody's. (Arlo is a few years older than Ralph & I). He owns a Yellow Checker Cab and used to give everyone rides in it. He is a great person. Arlo lives in Washington, MA which is between Hinsdale, MA where I'm and Becket, MA where Ralph hailed. Both of our parents still live in the same towns back there. :) And I have seen James Taylor, listen to him all the time. Love his music. Get real melancholy and sad for home whenever I hear Sweet Baby James, which has played many times in the last few days. I have also seen his brother Livingston Taylor sing and what a beautiful voice. He sang a rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow that will make you cry.
Also, my SIL brother's David (he passed away about 18 years ago) was the lead singer for a band called Shenandoah (not the country one) that was the back up band for Arlo Guthrie. Also, David wrote songs for Alice Cooper to include Clones. It was a sad day when he passed away at age 36 from an aneurysm.
Ok, this is a true story.
For a couple of years I had a recurring dream. At first, only maybe once a month. Later, a couple times a week. In the dream I was staring at a white grid. Music was playing, only it was coming in waves. Then, a face appeared in front of the grid - a woman, but somehow distorted. She asked "what is your name? what is your mother's name?" For some reason that amused me so I tried to laugh, but could only snort. Then, I would always wake up.
After 2 years of this odd dream, I went to the dentist to have all of my wisdom teeth removed. They decided to use the gas....so I'm laying back in the chair, breathing gas and staring at the ceiling....then this song starts playing and I think "hey!! this is familiar!" like deja-vu. But then the nurse looms over me, and I guess to test how I was responding to the gas, asks my name etc. And I was astounded - MY DREAM! THIS WAS MY DREAM! So I just started to laugh (snort) because I was so amazed, and they thought the gas was too much for me and took it away, and I had all my teeth chiseled out under just local anesthesia.
The dream never occurred again.
Eileen
OH my goodness Eileen. So perhaps our dreams are premonitions also....:) :( scary and fun at the same time. I can just hear you snort....LOL
It's a glitch in the Matrix! LOL
LOL What about your dreams Eco? :)
Oh my gosh Lisa, I just saw your last post about Shoe and Howie. you might be in hot water this time...
Shoe, Howie....Lisa is a good person and she doesn't mean to have dreams like that. Just consider the fact that she has been transplanting palm trees lately and very busy....Lisa, i'm trying to save your bottom here.....

Kathy, I see you have been dreaming about my man, James Taylor. My very first concert was when I was 16 - - James Taylor in Lexington, Ky. Got you beat, Melody - - that was in 1973. I saw him again when I was 26 and then again about 7 years ago. The last time was the best concert of all - - except I couldn't figure out why all those OLD people were there to see him. I could handle seeing those with gray hair or even no hair - - but when I saw a few folks wheeling in oxygen tanks (true story!), it was one of those moments in time that make me feel older than dirt.
Well, Nat....we evidentally were born in the same year. :) 57 was a good year! We had a similar experience at a Survivor concert two years ago. We were able to be stage side (our son works security at concerts) and boy the hair dye and face makeup was thick!!!! [not on me, on them]...In any event, we looked out at the [rather thin] crowd and all we saw was gray haired, toothless people in wheelchairs or with canes...a few oxygen tanks....and trying to jump up and down or dance in front of the band. Yes, we did feel older than dirt!!!! It is sad :(
It sounds as if I'm going to have to invite most DGers if i have a concert out here at the farm. LOL Many many JT fans. My problem is that I wouldn't want it to end...Can you imagine, another Woodstock at Misty Meadows Farm.....dream on..

Honestly I sleep so hard that I don't remember my dreams. The only recurring one I can think of is that when I am asleep and need to pee I have a dream about being in a school or some place that would have public restrooms and they are all out of order! lol I'm always glad to wake up from that one!
LOL. I have dreams where I've got to go to the potty, but my body won't move to get there! That's scary...BTW, I've never had a mishap. LOL
When I was a kid I'd have the same dreams, but I'm such a hard sleeper that I WOULDN'T wake up. *blushing* Then after I figured out the dream-pee corelation I learned to wake myself up! LOL
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! ITS MY DREAM!!! ITS MY DREAM!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh! I'm dying here ROFLMBO.
Howie, you look so good in pink!!!
GW, Can you put a picture up there of my dream singers at my farm? If it worked for Lisa, maybe it will work for me.
Eco, You just make me roll!!!
I am so glad I started this thread, I have laughed so hard.
:) Kathy
Oh, the shame of it all, Howie. I thought you returned those rubber chicken earrings!
You'll have to e-mail me a picture of your farm, Kathy!
I have the bathroom dreams, too. I'll have to go, and when I find the restroom, it's just filthy and awful. Or, it's weird...Like one time there was a bed with a toilet seat in the middle of it. Sometimes the toilet's in a public place and people walk by like it's no big deal that I'm sitting there!
I have dreams where I'm in college and I've been skipping a class a lot. I'm about to graduate and I'm franticly trying to read up and complete the coursework so I can pass the class -- I need it to graduate. I ask the professor, "if I get an A on the final, can I pass this?" and he says, "there's no way, no". Oh, I really *hate* that dream!
Another school dream involves getting lost trying to find the class or having trouble getting into my locker where my books are. Sometimes I get in the locker and there's just all this *stuff*, clutter. That dream's no mystery, LOL.

I have had several different recurring dreams for years now. I try not to think about what they mean too much b/c they're kinda eerie.
One takes place in the house where I lived with my grandparents growing up. Sometimes disaster happens.
Another dream involves huge, tall falling trees/ limbs.
Still another has flooding- sometimes it's at the seashore. Usually involves destroying a house.
I've had variations involving crashing planes. I'm on the ground looking up and see it happening. I dreamed once about one that happened on my Uncles' street. A few days later, one really did crash in the same city, but not on the street- too weird!!!
I also have one where people are shooting at me and I at them. I am sometimes being stalked and I am hiding. I shoot and shoot at the bad guys and they won't die.
This may be a little off-topic, but this is something that happened to me several years ago and still sticks with me. I always love getting the new phone book and I was looking for a chiropractor in the yellow pages. I had came across this dr's ad and picture. I felt really strange and couldn't stop obsessing that something was wrong or going to happen to this man. I don't remember how long it was afterwards, but this man was killed in a motorcycle accident!!!!!!!
Sorry to get off target, but thought this was very strange. I know some of the previous stories were kinda light and funny- hope I didn't bring everyone down here!!!
Hah! You folks are nuts!!!
Luvin' it!
And...(get this)....I'm SPEECHLESS! As for Lisa's dream, I see part of it has come true! Howie has a life as wild as it gets! (As for me, DD has run out of toenail polish and DON'T DARE anyone mention she get more!)
As for my dreams....ya'll have a hard time believing my Life, don't imagine ya'll could handle the dreams!
berrygirl, those dreams like that, I get them too, or use to. Sometimes "intuition" is very strong, and unsettling, but it happens! Don't let it get to ya too bad!
O gosh, I dream ALOT!! I have a recurring dream that people are chasing me, and I'm running thru this place and I run in this room and its filled with boxes. Above the tall stack of boxes is a attic door. The door is only about 2'x2' but I know if I can squeeze thru the hole I will be safe. I never make it thru the hole and they never come in and find me there. Because I usually wake up. (guess this recurring dream has something to do with my weight....you know being as I'm too big to fit thru the hole)
Also have lots of dreams about storms. Tornado's coming and the only safe place to hide is under the house....again it is a very small opening and I can't get in.
O the other hand I do have lots of dreams about being in the hospital and they are fixing to do major back surgery on me... I can feel the pain of it hurting, only to wake up and my back really be hurting.
Or I'm fixing to have surgery on my arm and again I feel the pain....only to wake up and find that I am laying on it the wrong way.
I've also had the awful bathroom dreams too. Having to go potty and most of the time it is in a public place or there is no doors on the stall. Or the toilet is sitting in the middle of a crowded room.
I've also had school dreams too, only mine is that I can't remember how to get my locker open.....believe it or not I really DID have that problem when I was in school. I never was good at locker combanations esp when we were given new ones.
Good thread!!!!!!!!! I could go on and on for hours!
Just thought of something else. Have you ever had a dream where you could actually see yourself laying on the bed/sofa and you can't move. You try with all your might to open your eyes but they just wont open? Your hands and arms wont move but the whole time you are telling yourself that you have got to get up that you have to wake up. Trying sooooo hard to make your eyes open but they wont.
Strange feeling!! I mean real strange!!!
While I was in grad school, struggling to get my degree, I had this recurring dream where I was in this old but nice house that had been added on to many times, so the organization of the rooms is weird. It's not my house, so I'm unfamiliar with it.
When it starts, I'm getting dressed for a very important event where some people very prominent in my career success are coming over, lots of them, like a huge reception in the house.
The have started coming in and my boss? (always an older female) keeps sticking her head in telling me they're here, hurry up!
I realize that I'm not quite dressed. I'm decent/covered, like in my blouse and slip, but no skirt, no shoes, and my hair has to be washed yet! I also realize that I cannot get to my missing clothes without passing thru where all these important people are.
The dream keeps me in this very stressful position until I wake up from it. I had to be very alert that I not sink back into the dream, for it seemed to go on forever. I never resolved the problem in my dream.
I later learned that this is a control dream, or rather of not having control of a situation. Which is pretty much how you feel in grad school. You're at their mercy. LOL
I don't have the dream anymore!!!!!
Judith
'Where do those golden rainbows end?
Why is this song so sad?
Dreaming the dreams I dream my friend.
Loving the love I love to love...'
How's that for a dream thread song? (one of my favorites also)
Anyway...one of my dreams is trying to find a number in the phone book that's not there. Hours of flipping the pages, knowing that it _has_ to be on the next page...and it's not.
And Shoe....who knows what may turn up at the next RU...we may have a silent auction for the GA fund on dibbs to paint your toenails!!!!
edited to say that 57 had to be a great year...now we're ALL telling our ages! I was a freshman in college in 76.

(And I thought no one even noticed my toe nails at the round-up last year! Mel, you behave, that was a one-time thing, I hope!)
Dreams are downright entertaining, aren't they? Altho a dream I had last year wasn't a recurring dream it's one I still hear about around here...
I was finally in a good deep sleep, laying in bed instead of on the couch. In my dream tho, I had fallen asleep on the couch and someone was making scratching noises, prying noises on the door, trying to break in! I apparently thought it was a juvenile youngster trying to enter inside and as I jumped up, pointing my menacing finger, in a very LOUD and BOOMING voice I hollered, "GET OUTTA HERE, BOY!!!!" and some other choice words.
Back to reality....my wife, sleeping in bed beside me, jumped up out of a sound sleep thinking we were being invaded, looking around to see which window or door someone was coming in thru! What she saw was me, sound asleep with my arm and index finger pointed in the air, and still threatening someone in a loud voice! She woke me up, rather brusquely I might add, saying "you're yelling in your sleep! Stop it!" When I was half awake and answering her question I sleepily told her 'someone was breaking in the house'. I fell back asleep, but as I did so I could hear her smothering a laff, then she got up and stayed up the rest of the nite!
I found out later in the day that she and Alex had a great laff over breakfast about it, as well as thru-out the day...heheh, DW trying to yell and imitate my accent, her finger pointing to the air! They laffed till tears flowed!
Oh well...such is Life, eh? :>)
Some guys never grow out of Cowboys and Indians. :)
I had a dream last night that I was driving a large van with a uhaul type trailer on the back of it. My SIL, DD, and DGD were with me.
We had been to listen to a band somewhere and many people had children with them in high chairs. I was angry because these babies had fallen asleep in their high chairs and were dangling over the sides and I felt like slapping all their mothers.
At this same place was a Walmart and a woman I know from church was picking people to get 30 items of goods, but only from the bottom shelf, so they were on their knees. I went to her and said why didn't she pick me and she said I had won a house, so couldn't be picked for this. Then I said, "Well, techinically I won my name in a drawing for a house and didn't win yet."
I was angry and went to sit in the back of the room and my mother was there. Then all of a sudden I notice Robert Duvall dancing and singing in the front. I wanted to talk to him and kept trying to get to him, but no matter how fast I walked I wasn't moving! So I left and that's when I was in the van with the trailer. It was raining outside and I had to go up this steep hill and I'd get 2/3 of the way up there and we would slide all the way back down the hill. I did this a few times and then the 3rd time I backed up real far and gave it a good running distance and made it up the hill. My DGD thought it was so much fun, she wanted to do it again. So the grandmother that I am, I spoiled her and did it again and then the buses got out of school and there were sliding up and down the hills!
Then I woke up. For the life of me, I can't figure out where this one came from. LOL It sounds to me like I went to bed with a lot of mixed emotions!
I tend to have classic anxiety dreams... for years, when stressed, I dreamed I had decided to strip myself of my upper garments, rationalizing I was flat-chested and no more indecent than a Boy Scout. I always enjoyed my new found freedom until I began to see stares and hear whispers. When I realized people were staring at me, I began skulking home traveling behind curtains, bushes, etc., feeling quite embarrassed.
Another dream has to do with babies. In some dreams, the baby is tiny and I have lost it. I can hear it cry, but I can't find it. In another dream, the baby is over a year old, and I have failed to start it on solid food. I am guilt ridden and horrified.
Generally, such dreams are related to falling behind my own little power curve... such as transplanting seedlings, filing taxes, cleaning my house, etc. It's usually a spring thing. In all fairness to myself, I haven't had one of these dreams in years, so maybe I've learned a bit from them about managing my life!
Many years ago, when I didn't have a place to garden, I used to dream of moving into a house that had a huge attached greenhouse. I spent many busy nights caring for all those dreamed plants.
Yep, anxiety dreams.
I'm glad you've tamed the anxiety. There are some advantages to getting older and wiser! Thank God!
Judith
