Duplicate photos, alphabetizing, and search problems

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

So I am not sure what is going on still... many genera in the data base are loaded with up to 4 duplicates of each entry. This makes digging through them really time consuming. For example, if you go to Aloes, and search through the pages, you will see each entry is listed at least 3 times, but not always in the same order. This didn't used to be the case, did it?

Also, any way to alphabetize the species in each genera, so sifting through things would be easier and more user-friendly?

Lastly I have searched for several species that don't pop up anymore (they used to). I see them in the data base if I plod through looking for them, but even when spelled correctly, they sometimes don't show up. What's up?

Dave, Some of these duplicates have exactly the same number too.

Palmbob you can ask the system to alphabetise the entries that come up, there is a sort by feature when you click on a list of genus names (i.e. if you click on the Aloe name in an entry it will bring up all Aloes and then you can sort them by preference)

I guess I'm not that smart... i don't see an option to sort by preference... how exactly do I do that?

Bob,

Can you give me a hyperlink to the page in which you see this problem?

Here's a very basic step-by-step for anyone who's struggling with the PDB search at the moment:

The first step is to select an entry for a particular genera or family (I'll use the Aloe genus for this example, but it works exactly the same way for any other genus or family.)

Step 2. Search for Aloe, I get these results: http://plantsdatabase.com/search.php?search_text=Aloe&submit=Search

Step 3: Select the first entry, Aloe arborescens: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/54506/index.html

Step 4: Click on the genus name itself: http://plantsdatabase.com/b/Asphodelaceae/Aloe/

Step 5: Click on species as my "sort" key: http://plantsdatabase.com/b/Asphodelaceae/Aloe/none/species

I could have also clicked on common name or cultivar name at this point, to see if perhaps a cultivar was listed twice (as two different species), or if a common name was misapplied to a particular species.

It worked- that is a great way to see things alphabetized.. .seems a bit complicated when things probably should just be alphabetized anyway, but that is a huge timesaver.. thanks!!
