I wont go into gory detail-
For a couple weeks my eye has been acting up.
Swelling, hurting,itching- I get a gross discharge all throughout the day too.
It's worse when i wake up in the morning. Every morning it's swollen so much it's closed.
Didnt have this problem til after I started working at the bonsai place.
I wouldnt normally ask on a forum but my boss freaked me out with a worm story.
Is it a stye?
Allergies?
I don't wanna go to a doctor unless I absolutely have to. Needles are scary and I don't have insurance, lol.
I do see two swells on the inside of my lower eyelid.
I've tried hot cloths and hot baths- I've washed it out- it heps for a while but it isnt getting any better.
Sorry for being gross.
Infected eye?
I work with an ophthalmologist, the itching is probably allergies, Naphcon-A is over the counter, it will help the itching. (it burns tho)
With the hurting and swelling on the lower lids, I would say maybe a stye. Especially if there are bumps. What I do when I get them is hard boil an egg, and wrap it in a cloth, you decide how thick the cloth. (the warmer the better on your eye) keep the egg on your eye (it fits nicely in the socket), do this at least 4-5 times a day. You can just re-heat the egg in boiling water, for a couple minutes, and use it over and over. If its a stye, it will come to a white head, KEEP HOTPACKING! It/they will eventually pop. (Thats what you want) (Sometimes oil glands in the lids get clogged, and the oil your eye naturally secretes, has no where to go, so it builds up to a stye)
With the discharge, depending on the color, if its clear or creamish, use artificial tears 4-5 times a day. (dont use the Visine that gets the red out, it can hide some symptoms that Dr's look for) Any lubricating drop would be ok.
You can also try lid scrubs, with baby shampoo every night, put a little baby shampoo on a clean washcloth, run it under warm water, and scrub gently your eyelashes and lids. This may help the swelling in the mornings.
IF YOUR EYE ITSELF IS RED/PINK/BLOODSHOT, OR YOU HAVE ANY COLOR TO THE DISCHARGE, YOU NEED TO GET INTO THE DR.
Im not a Dr, and this is all just what I would do. I hope it helps.

Well - if it's been two weeks now, I'd go have it looked at. Your eyes are very important. You know how they say when you are sick, after 7 to 10 days, then go see a doctor? Well, that's kind of what you are dealing with now. I wouldn't mess around with it. The meds for it aren't that expensive, just tell your doc what your budget is before he prescribes.

I agree, go get it checked now, you want to be able to see those new pups without having to rub and squint to be able to see them. Get it checked out now girl!
Is it possible you just have pink eye/Conjunctivitis? It causes your eye (actually the lining) to be very red looking. You would normally expect itching, burning and a discharge throughout the day. In the morning, it is so thick, your eye will be 'glued shut'. It is simple to fix with antibiotic drops. I want to also mention that it is highly contagious. A couple of people I work with have it right now. Hand washing is an absolute must. And if that is what you have, you are gonna have to toss your makeup and anything else that has been on or near your eyes-pillowcases and washcloths need a good hot wash.
oh lord.
Thanks for the help. :O
My eyes arent red at all. Just very very itchy and the discharge comes out in stringy creamy (pus?).
It doesnt smell bad or anything.
I don't this it is pink eye- i pray it isnt. :O
I'll try the egg and wash thing- if it doesnt clear up soon I'll see a doctor.
Thanks guys- I'm such a baby. LOL.
I really think you should go to a doctor. I nearly lost my vision in my right eye year before last because I did not realize I had a detached retina. They way it detached, it did not mess up my vision. One good bop to my head or sock in the eye and it would have been a total loss. Whatever you did or have, would probably clear up in a few days with antibiotics or something for allergies, etc. Don't risk your eyes.
For sure see a Dr. Like the above said, you dont want to risk your eyes. Let us know how it turns out.
My husband gets styes and he says, "That's how they start out, then the red painful bump appears on the eyelid. I don't get them anymore since the doctor drained my last two. They said I'd never get them again. I do still get the start of them, the itching and eye drainage, but that's as far as they get now." This happens when he's under a lot of stress.
Crimsontsavo,
how is that going for you? did you ever go see a doctor?
Karrie
Im curious too

Tsavo, I'd get to a doctor, an emergency clinic type place. Your eyes aren't anything to mess with.
I work in Optometry....what your discribing is a viral infection not unlike Conjunctivistis (around 15 different virus make up the classic PinkEye)....not all infections cause red eye....the give away is the discharge.
Use some artifical tears (none preservative) to help with the discomfort and to keep the discharge washed out, and get to a Dr.
Either your eye Dr or your Family Practice/GP Dr.
Generally these are mildly contageous so be sure to wash good, keep your hands awasy from your eyes, keep fresh linen on your bed everyday, toss out any eye make-up with applicators (eye shadows, liners, mascara)
Cool compresses to help with the itch and burn till you can get in....but GET IN :-)

Thanks so much!
It got better not too long after I posted this thread! Thanks the Lord. Either I have one kick butt ammune system, or it was just a bad stye. :)
