No Power

Just wanted to post that they are running a tag line on tv that there are 10,900 without electric in the Greenville/Spartanburg SC area and that high winds will continue from NE GA on up through the Piedmont of NC til around midnight. Keep us all in your prayers. The winds are horrid!

Bummer! Please update when you can, Vic. Praying for you guys out there.

Saw on the news this morning there is still quite a few out of electric but slowly getting it all restored. We still have winds today but NOTHING like last night. Thank you for prayers!

vic, I heard last night on the weather channel that there was a tornado in NC with all the storm/wind, but not where. Do you know? I only get Atlanta news here.

The winds were so bad off the lake here last night that I thought it surely must be hurricane-strength, if not a tornado nearby. Lost power for a while. Winds today just gusting to 48mph.

Good morning, Vic. So glad to hear that the winds have calmed. Hope that the worst is over and that you and others did not have much damage. Are these winds common for you? Right now it's snowing here - not too much just enough to form a pretty cover on the trees and lawns.

Freaky, wasn't it?
We lost power around 8:30 or so last nite. It finally came back on around 1:30. Fortunately the generator helped the g-house (and kept the tv on in the shoffice for me after the women went to bed).

Shoe, Howie saw your sign on MSN Messenger around 1:30am and thought it was really late for you! Your computer must load it at startup, huh?

DD called and asked if we were ok. She said, "mom, are you sure we're not having a tornado?" The winds were that bad. Surveyed the damage this morning and lots of limbs down but at least we didn't have a tree fall on the house like many people did. No Dea, winds like that are not common here. It's been windy here all day.

here in Huntersville, one life was lost when a tree fell on a man last evening..

GW, shhh...I actually did a "computer no-no" last nite. Since the generator was running the heater in the greenhouse, and the tv in the shoffice, I went ahead and tried the computer. I had heard not to run a computer off a generator cuz of the power fluctuation, however...since the tv, the heater fan, and the g-house light was on the generator ran at top rpm and there was no fluctuation. I took a chance but it ran just as if I had "real" power.

Howie must've seen me come back on when I switched over from gen to real power. (I had to double-check and make sure everything was acting normal, and it was!)

Ohhh, I would not have done that, LOL. My friend's dad blew the family's VCR's and DVD player with a gas generator! I would not trust a computer to it, unless you had a really GOOD surge protector. Yikes - you's lucky, Shoe-man!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Ohh...I do have a good protector! It is not only a surge protector but has battery backup. (even my phone line runs thru it, as well as other stuff.) Plus my generator is a really good'n. Just wish I could find another one as good as this one for the little bit of money I paid for this one.
