I met the infamous Horseshoe

Lexington, NC(Zone 7a)

I have now met the legendary horseshoe face to face and he lives up to all expectations. Among other things he is generous to a fault. Both my wife and I enjoyed him very much and look foreword to a continuing friendship.

Gene I just knew you would start a thread. Once ya meet shoe you can't forget him can ya? I bet ya'll had a ball exchanging stories and such..... I hear tell you been holding out on us. I saw some pictures. You got some great ideas going there. We expect to be seeing more pictures!

Lexington, NC(Zone 7a)

Mystic, Your sure right about Shoe but I haven't seen the pics, will look for them now.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

" look foreword to a continuing friendship."....heheh, he'd shoulda never said that! I"ll be over there in a heart beat now! (It was only an hr or so drive!)

Folks, if ya haven't seen the other thread, Sparks is a rarity. Well worth visiting! (Hope we can get him to a Round up!)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

What is the other thread, Shoe? So glad to see you here Sparks. I've wondered about you. Sparks' wife used to live in my hometown in Massachusetts, so when I first became a member on DG, we had several discussions. Haven't heard from you in a bit, friend...

You have to be careful of Shoe, Sparks. Just when you think you've got him figured out, he goes and does something so totally awesome you have to buy a bigger pedestal. :) Kathy

Edited to say....Duh, I found the other thread....:) Wonderful.

I do so wish I could have that pleasure too. HS sounds like such a wonderful person. I'm afraid distance will prevent that meeting in this world/lifetime tho.

Leaf, never underestimate Shoe. He could show up on your doorstep someday. I think he carries along some wanderlust in his blood :) and his sweet, sweet daughter may have inherited that. Heck, he's told Kidneyguy that he may show up in Canada....and I might hitch a ride with him.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmm...that's right! Hmmm...and Ohio is right on the way to Canada, eh, Kathy!?

By they way, I got a possum trapped under a half a barrel. I was thinking of taking him to Sparks as a present. When I picked him/her up it was in its "playing dead" mode....if I it up when it's awake, will he bite me? I'd hate to kill it before Sparks is ready to butcher it. (Or is that Mrs. Sparks job?)

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

ya, me and shoe will have to sit down over a nice cup of chicken manure tea someday and shoot the sh*t.

I'm sure we have entirely too much in common.

Two great guys meet up and enjoy!! Wish I had been there!! Now Shoe...maybe Sparks don't like 'Possum...just because he lives in NC doesn't mean he knows how to eat "southern". LOL Jo

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

RR...I was gonna take some left over sweet potaters to feed the possum good and clean it out before he (or his wife) decide to cook it. (And guess what, RosieJane says to tell Tessa it ain't nuthin to take a possum down!)

Dea, I have a backache in my head trying to figger out that code!

Drew...Ga ain't too far from me, and if I circumvent Tifton I believe I can make it to your area w/out getting arrested again.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

dashes and dots my friend!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

(I knew that.)
Reckon you're gonna make me learn Morse code now, eh? Welp...if I can learn to speak Wettasomanian (Squeeks, Grunts, and Giggles) then I can learn Morse code.

Lexington, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry Dea, I gotta work on that a little bit myself, not enough separation between letters. As for possum, if somebody else cooks it and brings it down here, I doubt if even then I would eat it. Shoe you just hang on to that there possum, maybe you can make a pet of him. He won't give you the grief I probably would.

GREAT IDEA, SPARKS!!! LOL Jo

Oh wow....meeting other DGer's is the BEST! So glad you all had fun and made some memories!
