Coming Home, Yippee

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

My DD called and told me that my SIL will be home (Ft. Hood) tomorrow night. 12 months in Iraq, before that 12 months in Korea...maybe they will get to be a family again.

Anyhow, I believe they are flying as we speak, so please say prayers for a safe flight. And thank you for all the prayers while he has been away.

:) Kathy

Kathy, that is such good news. I bet your DD is on cloud nine right now.

Sending my prayers for their safety and thanks for your SIL's return. Nat

She's busy cleaning the house and spit shining everything. Making sure there is no sand anywhere to be found, ha, ha...
He sent a box home and I guess it was quite dirty with desert sands....

Oh what wonderful news Kathy! I'm so happy for all of you!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Thank you. We are very proud of him, he has seen a lot and it will take a long time to tell the story, if he even does. I hope many don't have PTSD, although it's almost inevitable. I know he is coming back a different person.

But his highlight will be telling us the story about the capture of "you know who", of which he was involved.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I'm so happy to hear your great news, Kathy!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Kathy wonderful news. I know you can't wait to see him. Guess he better be ready for lots of hugs huh?

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Actually, I'm not sure when I'll be able to see him. I'll have to wait awhile. I'm here in KY and he is going into TX. Just went to TX last week to bring Moriah and Tory :( home....

So thrilled for them though.

I remember when my first husband graduated from Parris Island, SC Marine Corps boot camp. I hadn't seen him in almost 4 months. My sister-in-law said as I was boarding the plane to see him graduate...."I wish I were a fly on the wall"...I think of that now with my sweet daughter who has not really seen her hubby in over two years. :)

Thanks, Kathy

Misty! That is wonderful news! My heart goes out to you and your homecoming. Your news made my day!

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Kathy - that is wonderful. Yes, he'll be a different person for his experiences, but he'll also be the person you've always loved. Hopefully you'll get a chance to see him soon - we'd love to see pictures of the reunion! :)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I will try to get some pics as soon as I can. :) Thanks. Kathy

Just got off the phone with my DD. Actually, she held the phone up so I could hear the ceremony. Jim and the other soldiers just walked into the gym (11:15 p.m. TX time).. A long wait is over for now. Thank You Lord for bringing him home safe and hopefully sound. God Bless, Kathy

Cool! Just found this thread!
Welcome him home from all us DGers, Kathy!

(Is that Tory's Dad?)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Yes, Tory's Dad. Tory and Moriah are in TX now. :( Brought them last week, it is so strange without my sidekick here. She lived with us for over two years. I hate it!!! But I am thrilled they are together.

Did I tell you how Tory has been telling her story to everyone she sees? Walmart, cashier, bank, library...Well, the other day she told a cashier that "her Daddy has purple fuzzy handcuffs on his bed".. Moriah wanted to die! I don't know what the cashier's response was.

Ahhh, missing her terribly. :( :)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

HAHAHAH!!

Go Tory! :>)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Can you expound on the purple fuzzy handcuffs? I don't remember this one! LOL!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Daddy.........Purple............Fuzzy..........Handcuffs.........On his bed.............

Not much more to say LOL

Ha, ha...it just occured to me that Moriah would probably die if she knew I put this on DG.....;-Q

Kathy, I know how thrilled you are...I was the same when my DGD came home on the USS Abe Lincoln....and I know you will miss Tory...for no other reason but as she can keep one entertained by the hour!!! A real cutie, that one!! Jo

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Thank you Jo, but she needed good company to keep entertained and you and Janice did a real good job at that. :)

She called last night and demanded that we get to TX right away because right away because something needed to be fixed in the back of their truck and Gampy had to do it. I told her Daddy was home now and he would do the fixing for a while. :)

Thanks for the sweet words about Tory. :) Kathy

"Oohhhhhhhh! Really handcuffs!" (doing my best Edith Bunker).

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

LOLOLOLOLOLOL .... My best friend here in KY is a New Jersey native (pronounced Joyzee) and IS Edith Bunker. And.....many have said we strongly resemble Laverne & Shirley (me being Shirley...a little heavier) :)

I couldn't resist sharing this. My Sister-In-Law wrote (Rob's wife) and said she had turned the light out in her living room window JIM IS HOME. On the day he left, she turned on a little light and vowed to keep it on until he came home. I had tears in my eyes reading that. She said many others SHOULD be home, I agree.
