First baby horse in family!!!!!

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

My grand daughter's horse had her baby last night. A little boy..he's white with a black mane and hoofs and a black star on his forhead. He is very small..his father is a pony.

He's a cute little guy. Wait till he starts running around and his mom gets all worried. His mane is dark but how about his tail? I'm wondering if he is going to be a buckskin. More pictures please!

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

I'm sure my grand daughter will be sending me more pictures. Yes, his tail is black also. She is hoping he will be a buckskin. Being a city person, I can only tell that it is a horse.Goodness knows I don't know one kind from another. LOL They are having a family meeting tonight to name him. He will be my great grandson's horse to raise and his pony will pass down to his sister.

What a little cutie pie!
His mum's a beauty too. Is she palomino?
I wasn't sure what buckskin colour is so looked it up. We call it dun in the UK - just about my favourite!

Ooooooooh!!! He's so cute. I'll bet your granddaughter is absolutely thrilled!!

I bumped this up to show you all how the baby horse has progressed. He even has a name now, "Sun". If you look beween his feet, that is Louie-Louie, the wild Boar baby that is now his best bud!

OH I love the blonde horse ( Mama).. Every time I see a blonde horse.. I tell DH I want that one! LOL..

Beautiful family.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Thank you for the updated photo. Great family portrait! The little guy has grown a lot in a couple of months.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Did your little stallion father the colt on his own, or did you artificially inseminate? He's so short! :D What beautiful animals.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

GW... I wanted to ask the same thing LOL.. WOndering how he can reach up there?!? lol but still beautiful!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Leave it to me to ask the questions, LOL! I wondered because I read about someone's puppies, fathered by a dachshund and mothered by a tri-color collie...Kind of the same scenario, in a way.

Alpharetta, GA

Love the pictures! Great question GW! I want to know too. New baby horses are a lot of fun!

Lamar, AR(Zone 7a)

Im interested to know how that mare was bred too! LOL

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

absolutely precious! I love those buckskins! Congratulations to the family!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Waiting for the answer too! LOL I guess he could have been given a boost, lol.
Such a pretty herd! *gets jealous!*

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

maybe he can jump high? lol

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL!

Columbus, OH(Zone 6a)

OK, OK, I was wondering, too. :) I'm thinking: "What? Did he stand on a box?" Daddy is a gorgeous pony, though. What horse could resist?

The little foal is so beautiful. It must be fun, raising a horse "from scratch", so to speak.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Gee, and I always thought the mounting block at the stable I used to go to was for people to use if they couldn't reach the stirrup from the ground.

LOL She better get in here to clear this up soon or some of us will get too much fun out of this.

Keep the ideas coming but remember we have to keep it clean so here is the soap for ya.

You all are a HOOT!!!LOL I was hoping you wouldn't notice the difference in height (yeah, right!) so I would be spared the explanation. It seemed that the little daddy wouldn't take NO for an answer, so to save fences, his hide and their sanity, they dug a ditch for mama to stand in. Modesty forces me to draw a curtain across the proceedings so you can use your imagination to view the honeymoon!

Dear Lord,lol.
Wasnt expecting that! lol

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL ... I was hoping the explanation would come along soon!! I had to show the picture of your horse family to people at work...many have grown up around horses and none came up with the right answer. It sure had them cackling tho'. ;)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

They dug a ditch? That's too funny!

Oh, the dachshund-collie a vet wrote of (I mentioned it earlier) union involved the short dog figuring out the couch made him taller.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

OH dug a ditch! LOL.. That's cheat!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

ROFLMBO!!

An update on Sun, the new baby horse. He is 4 months old, and taller than his daddy. He is getting used to being petted, and loves to nibble on my ggrandson's hair! In the picture from left to right: Louie-Louie (the boar baby), daddy pony, Sun, and my great grandson, Vance. Somehow all the pictures my grandaughter sends of her children always include an animal of some sort. LOL
