Monterey the city

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I will be taking a trip to Monterey next sunday. I hope to see some whales, and or other cool stuff. I wanted to go to the Monterey Bay Nursery, sorry no amateurs allowed, she said. It's wholesale only. There's lots to do and see there. I was born in Carmel, but on-line as Carmel didn't work. So Monterey I recommend it to evreyone. this is a favorite beach my grandmother used to take me to. This is Carmel River Beach.

Boy, that's gorgeous. You ought to tell her you're a photographer and you're not intersted in buying, but in photographing the plants. Just gush about how huge a selection they have and how you'd never get shots of some of those varieties if left to find them on your own. Maybe she'll be flattered and let you come in for that. :)

I did that in my almost famous days, but it gets harder to tell those little white lies as time goes by. Here is another shot. I always remember being a little kid here.Deanna and Clint Eastwood's kid goes to school around the corner. Peter (Candid Camera) Funt's too. I started my Rock n Roll photography at the Monterey Pop Festival. They had it at the fairgrounds where they now have the jazz festival every year. If you see Play Misty For Me it was shot there. I bluffed my way into getting a full press-photog pass for all three days. Me and Time magazine. All equals that day. Any way here's the shot.

But you are a photographer, be it amateur or professional. If you stress it's for non-commercial applications, they might be flexible on it. Never hurts to try...Just think of all those blooms, all that eye-candy, behind those fences. *sigh*

;) I'm terrible!

I think what I am going to do is go to all the nurseries that Monterey Bay, and San Marcos growers list in the area. That way I can buy fresh as stuff. Randy Baldwin is a man of his word. I went to the site to check on the list of retail outlets, and I went to Phygelius Cape Fuchsia, he has added info and corrected the area that we corresponded about. I am Impressed.

Hey! I got photo of the day again. That's so nice to see the shot like that. Kind of like Thank you! Database! This is the Carmelite Mission in Carmel, not the main one. The beach below it is a favorite, it's called Monastery Beach.

Monterey, you are making me want to visit that beautiful area of the coast again. My sister used to live in Boulder Creek area and when I visited her we would go all over that area looking at neat things. A different corner of the world than I live in now. Thanks for pulling good memories out for me.

Aaaaahhh! John Steinbeck country!

My favourite American author. I'd love to visit the area sometime to actually see what he was writing about. One of my last great wishes.

Beautiful pics Monterey, well done.
