Do we get kicked off this site

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

for using our amendment rights? That crazy Spike did it to me again and will not even show me where or what I said that was wrong. If I could get my hands on him or her, I'd ..... them.Glad I found this site seems people can say what they want here. Thanks needed to get that off my chest. Thanks, Jody

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Jody, we *do* have an acceptable use policy here: http://davesgarden.com/about/index.php?page=tos It's good to be familiar with the general terms and guidelines - they're straight-forward and basically involve a civilized, "do-unto-others" philosophy. As the election year gets underway, this is probably a good time to remind everyone that political issues are a no-go here. (There are plenty of other places on the web to go nose-to-nose, if that's anyone's cup of tea.)

If you've been here a while I'd guess you've probably already discovered that Dave is a lot more consistent and a lot less uptight than some other webmasters ;o) That's not to say some folks haven't been removed from DG, but when it has happened:

a) their actions were so outrageous and egregious that there wasn't any other solution; and

b) they knew they had been banned - they didn't suddenly find themselves with a one-way ticket to Disney.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

LOL, I got "disneyed" once. I think I discussed something commercial, perhaps a plant-seller in an incorrect way. I wonder what the Disney people would think knowing that their site is a punishment for crossing Spike?

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

What I don't get is it probably was old and he/she wouldn't even post the forum it was on.Who governs the webmasters? Nothing against you Dave and I am very easy to get along with. I just can't understand why I can't see the proof.Makes him /her look guilty; not me.LOL Ps. Where are the rules on here I don't want to mess up.Hummmm good idea woodspirit1. Maybe I should contact Disney and ask them.I am trying to contact they main company because the whole thing was just silly. Thanks once again for letting me get this off my chest.Everyone there will tell you I am a generous trader, sometimes slow because of my meds, but I alway come through. And I am very easy to get along with. Anyway I AM GLAD I FOUND A GARDENING SITE W/ A FRIENDLIER MODERATOR. YAY!!!! FOR DAVE'S!!!!!!!Thanks, Jody

Yeah, he "disneyed" me again too. Isnt fun at all. Stupid GW.

That is so "odd", he just does it like that, he doesnt say anything, he just do it. Stupid.

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

The worse thing is he said I post something about religion or the government and won't let me know or even look at the thread.I think he/she is a tiny little person. With a big ego problem. No warning and refusses to answer me when I ask to see the posting.Low down and rotten.I hope evryone leaves there and comes here.I know I will be doing a lot of PR work for this site with the other sights users. And believe me I have done hundreds of trades and even more sase's when I was new.So I have a lot of e-mails to send.LOL. This site is not uptight and I'm not scared to get into a conversation. There I was scared to move the wrong way.Glad he's not our pres. or it would be like living under Sadam's rule.No talking just shot you. Thanks, Jody

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

Jody, welcome to DG. LOTS of us here on DG are exGWers. For that very reason. I never got Disneyed, but was told once I couldn't tell people about how their Social Security moneys were being dumped into the general funds if not used by them(death). He said it was political. I thought of it as just being informational. I may get told the same thing here. We'll see.
As for your last sentence, you are absolutely correct. And remember, the price of freedom is often very high. Some of us have mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and just friends over there helping to keep us free. One of my granddaughter's fellow soldiers from basic clear thru Korea just paid the ultimate price a few weeks ago and another 2 have been injured. Our GD is leaving for Iraq in early March.

Well, I still go to GW a bit but I have to admit it is very disturbing to get emails from members who get the boot. Just recently, there were two who were new to the internet in general and GW and they were both just devastated. They had sent emails to tell me they weren't sure if they could complete a trade because every time they tried to access the site they were sent to disney. I had to explain to them what had happened and if they were still interested in trading I was more than happy to trade. I also sent them links to here but haven't seen them post yet.
I hate to think that they would give up on on-line gardening just because of their experience with GW.

Terry and Gardenwife, I always appreciate the links people provide and thankyou for providing the Daves Acceptable Link. Says it all! Denise

Jody, just wondering, what was your garden name over at the gardenweb?

I don't do anything over there but swap plants, and it's getting to where I don't do much of that any more over there. I'm scared of getting thrown off for something I might say, or causing others to fuss over my posts. I once asked for opinions on miracle grow, you should hae seen the knock out drag outs that a couple of folks were having over miracle grow, it was unreal LOL I wanted to say something about it, but chose not to.

Hi Jody, Iknow who you are over at GW, I recognized the palmyra IL , I saw a post of yours over there, you were wanting some kind of plants and posted that you had something to trade for it and it wasn't plants, I can't remember what it was, but it wsn't plants, I know for a fact that You can post things for trade here that aren't plants, I've posted my soaps/lotions etc to trade for plants, and asked if I could first. Over there if you do it more than once or twice, he'll ban you, maybe that's why you got banned. Doesn't seem fair does it. You have to be a paid member to post things for trade that aren't plants and it has to be posted in the garden swap forum. But no worries. this place is fantastic. there's also planttraders.com but nothing beats this place. I love it here and spend all my spare time right here. he he. I'm getting in on the coops too.

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

welcome cheval.daves is a great place to be. warning! it can be and usually is addictive!

Golden, CO(Zone 5b)

I think you would be surprised at how many of us there are, if Dave ever did a poll on who had been sent to Disney. As I think Mobi once mentioned, it has become a rite of passage, and made him into a laughing stock. You certainly don't see him posting his membership totals!

This is much more laid back, and you will find that a lot of the people who are agitators over there, although they may have a membership here, are not active. There is too much going on here for them to be the center of attention. And this is a much friendlier atmosphere.

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

It is more friendly and I enjoy it so much more. I do miss Trudi and her winter growing forum but she has her own web site now so I just go there instead. Thank you all for being so nice here.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

no religion ment. on there or about when fires were going on, he is a atheist maybe.. but his actions hurt some people which is wrong.mabye he is or she old maid sorry not against or in speaking ill mannered. labeling anyone old maid but trying to figure him out her??? ...or has pms.or has one said harpies maybe he is harpie..they have there "groups" there. one them or not..sad not to be able to communicate back forth to..

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

My G/w name was Nature_Farmer. Just wanted everyone to know. Thanks, Jody

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I've never been on GW, sounds like I've been missing out on lots of fun! I wonder who holds the record for fastest trip to disney?

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

There is probably some sort of rule about website ownership that would be prohibiting Spike from rerouting his rejects. I think it is interferring with your use of the internet and the money you pay to be online to have someone fiddle with the URL's and redirect you. What if you had some sort of beef with Disney and didn't want to see their site?

Mesilla Park, NM

Did you guys read the other post on the Brugmansia & Friends forum? "Spike the Circular Idiot", I guess it say's it all.

The Dalles, OR(Zone 8b)

Jody,

I was still able to find your member page by doing a member search. Are you sure that you are banned? Usually, when a person is banned on GW, their member page is deleted. You did get kind of controversial for Spike's taste on your member page. Maybe that's where it is?? I don't think Spike likes any kind of free speech about things other that gardening tips and trades etc. Just a thought :)

Angela

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

If you are a contributing member and get banned your page remains. I don't know for how long but.....

It only took me a month to get banned. I didn't like some of the harpies there and stood up to them and although the harpies got to stay I got banned. I doubt that that is the record though. LOL

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

I don't think Spike likes free speech about ANYTHING! I love Dave's garden! The people here are especially nice!

Golden, CO(Zone 5b)

And really, why worry about it? That "other place" has become so insular and inbred with the same people dominating that it is boring and stale. Even their conversation threads are old. Someone once said that DG doesn't have as much trading going on, but it sure looks like more to me!

There is a lot more to offer here, things that DG has and GW doesn't. Can you imagine Spikes blood pressure if someone tried to do a co-op over there? Or, heaven forbid, let a non US member be part of a conversation? Plus, it looks like most of the bickering, whining about bad traders, and just plain nastiness is all over there.

Why go there? Perhaps, if there were someone there that you particularly liked you should invite them over here?

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

Good one Carena. LOL Jody

Franklin, LA(Zone 9b)

the only bad thing about DG is that it's so addictive..
you'll (if you're like me, atleast) spend all of your time on the website, and never get anything planted... you'll never get any work done in the garden, and when everyone else is posting all the beautiful pictures of their plants that are blooming, you'll still be glued to the website, and have a box full of seeds sitting next to the puter..... waiting to be planted
lol

ok.. so that's not entirely true
i did actually get out into the garden yesterday morning and plant a bunch of seeds
and currently i've got some bearded iris soaking (i kind of forgot about them.. they were in storage through the winter... ) to hopefully be planted tomorrow

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

How, out of curiosity, can one talk politics, when there is soo much gdning to be done and talked about! This place has become part of my daily routine! Elaine
