I'm just wondering if there might be some more members who are interested in a drought resistant gardening forum. Because of climate changing (I think) even overhere in the Netherlands summers can be so dry that there 's starting a bit lac of water. And yes..my waterbill... I've recently received a book af Beth Chatto about drought resistant gardening and using gravel as a mulch. Well this is what I mean ..not fighting againt these dry conditions but to work with it. Her gravel gardens are soooo beautifull...wish I could show you the pics in this book.
If there are more people interested...well we can ask Dave to create one.
drought resistant gardening forum???
I think there was one once, but there was so little traffic it was removed. Maybe there are enough members now to support it again?
Yes..I've heard about this forum..it was about xeriscaping they told me. I'll see..maybe there are more members interested now.
I'd be interested, though what is a drought in the Netherlands and what is a drought in California will be two different animals.
With the climatechangings the differences are'nt that clear anymore..I'm not saying there are no differences...a lot stays.. like our wet winterseasons and so on. Summer 2003 has been remarkable hot in Europe and the past years southfacing gardens have had a hard time during summers. So I think I could learn a lot about drought and sun from Californian gardners..and perhaps.. in time.. it'll go vice versa.
But ...what I've seen from the responses at my posting...there is'nt so much interest for such a forum. I'm wondering on wich forums the gardners with welldrained, dry and sunny positions mostly hang around ..also the rockery gardners ??
Well ..here's a pic from Chatto's book...pretty hey...I hope the pic can be seen.

Post your questions and comments about dry gardening on Garden Talk, that is sort of a back fence forum where we talk about lots of different general gardening topics. I'm not sure how many people knew what xeroscaping was about and never looked to see. It might get more discussion on a forum with plenty of action. Pretty picture, that tall yellow mullien on the right is something that grows wild here and can be invasive. I've chopped down acres of it.
Just yesterday I was looking to see if we had a Xeriscaping Gardening Forum. That would be great. Count me in.
I hope Dave will create a new forum..I think it also would be great.
saya-
Ask Dave in the Dave's Garden forum. That's where Dave hangs out the most.
The general rule of thumb is at least 4-5 people need to post under it that they are interested in a new forum.
