Yankee or Dixie????

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

That Americanaccent.com site is fantastic - and a hoot, looking at it as an American (and seeing myself pegged at every turn, LOL!).

I've not long taken this test a second time and got 100% ... I may write to the creators of the test and tell them I ay bin there.

Stellapathic - whos a furiner here? Unless someone moved the house, I'm at home *G*

Grandma always said dreckly too. MILLERS.....I used that term as a child. DH had no clue what they were! LOL...I used davenport as a child too. Sheesh, I had forgotten so many of these words....

This Pennsylvanian-Californian is 61% Dixie. When I was just a Pennsylvanian, I would have been 46% Yankee. I lost some of those Pennsylvania-isms like "pop", "crick", and "yunz".

By the way, to me, a Yankee is someone who lives in New England, or someone who plays on the New York American League baseball team.

(A drive through liquor store? Lawdy-mercy!)

By the way, Terry, car-MEL is the place in California. CAR-muhl is the candy. :-)

Me too Kelli
I never considered myself a yankee. Never thought about it "a tall" til I went to College in Kentucky (10 miles from the Tennessee border) and all my friends called me a Yank....and said I talked funny.

Then.... when I came home at Christmas, all my friends up here said I talked funny!

CAN'T WIN!!

Vic, it sounds like we grew up hearing the same things!!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Hummm, born in Texas, lived in Tennessee then back to Texas and now I find out I'm a Yankee......my word...the things we learn.....LOL

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

83% Dixie. :) And this is what I expected, but I'm a little suprised having a mom from North Carolina and a dad from Australia and spending my first 8 years overseas that it'd be that high!

76% Dixie!
I guess even the Big Apple can't really dilute a Southern upbringing.

Sheila K!
