Yankee or Dixie????

Sheesh, I couldn't believe it. I was 50% yankee. It said I barely made it into the yankee category. And I even answered pop for soft drink LOL....course I am from
"suthern" OH LOL....I guess 6 years in NC is turning me into a Dixie.

http://www.chuckchamblee.com/dom/fun/yankee_dixie_quiz.htm

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

85% DIXIE.

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I'm 73% dixie was surprised I would have thought I was 100% dixie.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I got 55 % Dixie, barely. Now Vic, I call pop "soda" and that I learned when I move from Michigan to Texas, however, they said soda was a NE response. We called it "pop" in Michigan. Which NE are they talking about, Pa?

Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

I'm 55% dixie, which is about right for being a Missourian. But still thought I'd be more dixie.
A very interesting test.

Stoneham, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm not too sure about this one ... mine came out 52% Dixie! I was born and bred
in Boston! LOL Tried it a second time trying to remember how I would refer to items
as a kid and came out 49% Yankee ... go figure? Lotsa fun tho :-)

Edited cause I can't spell.

Sheesh - I'm Dixie!!! How's that for a Brit!!!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

58% dixie here also, funny tho, sometimes I might have used 2 of the answers,it just depends where I might be or whom I'm with.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

42% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category. My heart is dixie the stork just droppd me to far NORTH! ;)

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

Louisia, I knew you were in trouble when the first time I heard you say "yall"..hahaha

Hmmm, It said I was 83% Dixie...and I had to leave 2 empty, seems like we have our own lingo down here.

there were no answers for me on these:

How do you pronounce caramel...
I don't say it like any of the choices listed

What's that long sandwich with lots of cold cuts and toppings?

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

So how does a California girl become 57% Dixie. lol I'm not even close to the Mason/Dixon Line......but I do love them Southern Grits.

Donna

Lisa, how do you say caramel? I had to learn to say soda when we moved down here. If I asked for a soft drink and said pop, people would look at like,,huh??? I had to leave a couple blank too as I wasn't familiar with the term. BTW, I say Kar Mul - I think that's how you spell it if you're trying to sound it out...It's funny, over in the co-op forum there is a daylily co-op and the daylilies are coming from Lebanon OH which is about 20 min from where we lived and where dd lives now. Anyway, depending on where you're from in OH, you could pronounce it Le ba non or Lebnon (all one word) LOL

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

i heard lisa talk and shes got a language I had never heard B4-say 28 again! lol i loved it!
she sounds like kamal not carmel-how was that!!!???
I love you Lisa!!!

Cuyahoga Falls, OH(Zone 5a)

52%. That surprised me, since I have lived in northeastern Ohio all my life ! I grew up in Cleveland's west side suburbs. Maybe since I live in Green now, which is south about 50 miles, I'm Dixie. Does that make me a Dixie Chick or an old hen ?

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Mine was 73% Dixie.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

LOL dori!

vic, lesse, I will try to spell it as I say it:
KAH-ruh-MEL (say it really fast..lol)

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

83% (Dixie). Did you have any Confederate ancestors?
Not surprised by my outcome. Born and raised in GA!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, I was 40% Yankee and then did it again and was 34% Yankee. I would have thought I was 85% Yankee....Having been born and raised in New England. Does that mean that I am 66% Dixie? :) In North Central Kentucky? Oh my..

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Good grief. How does a midwest transplant wind up 87% Dixie????

For the record, it's "CARE-uh-mel" not to be confused with "CAR-mel" which is a place in California.

Carbonated beverages are cokes - they just come in different flavors ;o) DH's family lives in Leb'non TN - there might be an "a" in the spelled version, but not when you say it...

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

LOL never realized a Filipina can be 40% (Yankee). A definitive Yankee. ROTFLOL! geez!!!!

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

ha, hows that for a match, hubby just took the test, he is 83% also....yall.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

60% Dixie, born and bred in Md. with some occasional jaunts in West by God.

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

Mine say's, 39% (Yankee). A definitive Yankee.

What I want to know is WHERE ARE THE DRIVE THRU LIQUOR STORES??????

I think we need some of them up here in YANKEE country!!! LOL

sue

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

I am 85% Dixie, Southern through and through y'all! Wonder how Horseshoe will do on the test? Hey, Shoe, give it a try and let's see how you do on the test. I will email him right now cause this is very urgent and important, ISN'T IT????

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hehehe....I got a 74%...DIXIE

then went back and only changed two answers and got an 83...

So proud of myself!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

That's so fun! It's a shorter version of another test I've seen elsewhere...I'll have to dig that up. (Edited to say that it says what the longer test was -- the Harvard Computer Society Dialect Survey. It's closed now, darn it.)

Now get this: I was born and raised in Illinois, moving to Ohio when the summer before I started high school. I scored "63% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!"

You're welcome MollyBee.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

"I suppose you can't get much more Yankee than that."

Well I was born and raised in Maine, and I'm still only 54% Yankee, LOL. I've been in MD for almost 11 years.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

87% Dixie - course I am a Georgia Peach. Did surprise me a bit, though to be that high.
