Newsletter mailings timechange

Starting with tomorrow's mailing, the newsletter will now be sent at 3:00am EST, rather than 12:15am.

That's an FYI for those of you who like to get it at night before you go to bed - you'll now have to stay up till 3 to read it. :)

Definitely a good reason to "hit the hay" and not wait up!

(Actually I really do appreciate the heads-up - since mine comes at eleven-ish my time, I'm often still up. No more using the newsletter's arrival to prompt me to get to bed!)

I'd have worried if you hadn't said anything, thanks for letting us know. It's usually my signal that it's time to start thinking about bed, too! LOL!

I'll still be up! :D

I don't have a newsletter from yesterday and there is still a check mark indicating I want it. Is this another problem from the server change?

No newsletter here either.

Did I say 3:00am? I meant 9:00am. :) The newsletter is going out right now as we speak and tomorrow morning it WILL go out at 3am.

Dave, for a while now I have had problems getting my newsletter. When I realize I have not gotten it for a few days, I go in and look and my subscription box is unmarked. So I mark it again and submit. I get the newletter for a day or 2 and it stops again. I go back in and find the box is again unmarked. I have been doing this for awhile now. I went back in today and clicked once again on it.

What do you think I am doing wrong that it won't remain marked?

thanks, I do so enjoy the newsletter!

Kell, I suspect your problem lies somewhere within your mailbox or your ISP. (Full mailboxes tend to bounce back emails, sometimes people set up filters that cause the newsletter to wind up in the delete/trash file. Alternatively, sometimes ISPs bounce messages for no good reason.) If you continue to experience "outages" and you know it's not due to a full mailbox, or your filter settings, let Dave or me know and we'll see if we can help get you squared away.

Thanks Terry. I do have a full mailbox always, at about 300 emails it seems. But why would a full mailbox change my settings on my preference page at Dave's?
thanks

Kell, the way I understand it is that if the Newsletter comes to your mailbox and it is full, it bounces back to Dave and his software changes your settings automatically so that you won't get the letter until you re-submit your choice to DG. Something like that anyway.

Yes, if mail bounces, the system unsubscribes you.

At one point we had over 5,000 subscribers to the newsletter who were bouncing. That meant that every night my system would wastefully (and it does cost money to send it - it uses a lot of bandwidth) have to send 5,000 (approx) emails that would just get bounced.

So I programmed the system to auto-unsubscribe folks when their email address bounced. That cleared out those 5,000 in a real hurry. :)

These days it's a hassle when the bounce unsubscribes you, and, actually, about a week ago I disabled the bounce-auto-unsubscribe feature temporarily.

So, if you are bouncing my newsletter, the system will still continue to try to send it each night. Soon, however, I will reprogram my bounce feature to only unsubscribe on "fatal errors", like "No such user here" and ignore the full mailbox messages.

OK, I must be guilty as charged!! But I wonder why I get no one telling me their emails are getting bounced back? Like yours Brugie..never get bounced do they? And if anyone would know, you would! LOL

I better start looking at my mail and deleting. I have a terrible habit of leaving emails as 'keep as new" if they are particularly interesting, I am not sure how to answer, do not have the time right then or if I am just too lazy at the moment............... and then later I have so many new ones I just let AOL take care of them eventually!

Thanks all for solving my mystery!

Let's those of us in this thread send a test message to Kell via DG.
