Dave: Plants Database

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Dave I have had some trouble finding plants on the database that are (on my end) slightly mispelled or need an apostrophe. Is there any way it could be less touchy about spelling or give suggestions as to "are you looking for this" (like a search on Dogpile does)or would that just turn up to many plants?

Thank you,

Delisa, we tried implementing so-called "fuzzy logic" search capabilities within the PDB when it was much smaller, and it was a resource hog (or HAWG, depending on where you live and how you spell it ;o) Dave had to remove it to avoid major slowdowns for PDB users.

The best approach I've found is to search for just one word of the name, or even spell just part of a name (good for those names that are difficult to spell): Chamaecyparis is one that always stumps me, but if I can get close (chamaecy) I'll get enough results for me to pick out one that is spelled right:
http://plantsdatabase.com/search.php?search_text=chamaecy&submit=Search

Then I can click on the genus or species name to get just those plants: http://plantsdatabase.com/b/Cupressaceae/Chamaecyparis/

And if all else fails, try spelling it in Google or Dogpile, get your spelling corrected, then cut and paste it into the PDB search box.

Thanks Terry, Yes here it is Hawg. Wild hawg.
