Iris Database - USE TO BE great

Oro Valley, AZ(Zone 9a)

Dave,

I thought one of the best features you had going on this site was a separate Database for the irises and Daylilies. I am an iris lover.

After the move - - all the BEST features are now gone. There is no longer any home page to post or review new iris photos. There is no longer any 2nd main page where we can click on any A thru Z link to quickly get to an iris. Now if we want to see all the irises which begin with the letter R we have go through 1000's of pages just to get to it.

There use to be order, (it was smooth and easy) now there is only Chaos. Is there any hope that some of these extrememly helpful features will return? Once all the iris people come back.......... I can imagine they will look once and give up and never post another iris photo, place a comment, or look one up (because they may not be too sure how it is spelled except with an R, or a W).

I was new to the iris database, and it was THOSE original features which made me decide to stay, to post over 400 photos, and to comment. It was those features that made me go out and tell my friends. Now - - I feel like I'm in no mans land. :-( I feel the loss big time. I know others do too, and many, many others WILL come spring, and summer when they will want to look up which irises to purchase for next year.

Much saddened by this change, and hoping it isn't permanent.

I think Dave has the seperate databases down for alittle while he is working on them. I am sure they will be back soon better than ever.

Mystic,

You are so sweet......... I sure hope so. I never I thought I could get so saddened over an iris database change. I've been involved with and looked at 4 other iris "forums" and this one WAS the best by far when it came to organization, pictures, easy access, comments, etc! I sure hope you are right. Thank you for your encouraging words.

Margiempv your welcome. It will be back don't get discouraged. You keep your great pictures coming. When Dave is working on something it's always to make it better. So I am sure you will be happy.

I have to admit, I'm surprised (pleasantly) by the reaction I've had by a few folks about the databases. There are a lot of people who really do love those sections!!

They are indeed offline right now as we work to create some new nice (and better!) setups for the various sections of the Plants Database.

I promise you - we're working on putting these features in. In the meantime, they're offline but will be back as soon as possible. And you will love the changes! (I hope!) :-)

best,
dave

I am sure you will hear if we don't like it. :) If it's like everything else we will love it.

Thank you Dave,

That is GOOD NEWS. I kind of felt like I was kicked out of my home, and wondering where to go from here. I'll keep checking back, to see what kind of plans you have in mind. If it is all those features that were there before and more - - I'm sure I'll be thrilled. :-)

Temporarily, until I'm finished with the new PDB stuff: http://iris.plantsdatabase.com/

Hi LimeyLisa Kay,

We use to able to access all those databases (you listed) and more by a link, which use to exist on the right side of the main "Welcome to the PLANTS DATAPAGE" page. (The links were inside those boxes - like you currently see to the right.)

Dave has said that the iris databases and the other databases WILL be back in other form. I'm not sure how long, or what kind of form it'll be. But, others have told me - - that knowing Dave - - it'll be better than before.

Meanwhile this link - - which Dave has set aside still works:

http://iris.plantsdatabase.com

Possibly -- I'll see you there?
