Hey now we're in the banana belt. Ran today with only one layer of clothing - could have run in shorts if the wind hadn't been a factor. What's even better is we've even had sun.sun.sunlight for a couple of days. Nothing picks up my spirits more. Sweethearts week starts Tuesday so it will be nonstop cooking for a week - then menu change then an R&R break for 4 days in Dallas then serious seed starting.
baby its cold.....
Now I believe spring is coming! :D Have a great trip!
It's good to hear that you're thawing out, both of you.
Valentine's runs a whole week Lynn? I must remember this for next year. I'm on Atkins so no chocolate for me but sure can request a bunch of new plants.
So what do you have planned in Dallas?
bulblegging??
For sure Liz we have run Sweethearts week for almost 20 years now. A lot of restaurants don't like valentines because most of their tables are booked for 2; so even though they are full, the head count is low. We decided instead of complaining expand the concept. We do a special menu and bring in outstanding wines that we pair with each menu item and pour by the glass. Lots of people look forward to the week just for the extra special wine/food combinations. And we tell them that it is much more relaxed a day or two before or the day after - and it is. So we are booked solid friday, saturday and sunday already and have some but not much room on thursday. Menu started tonite and I am very pleased with it and the wines. Check it out on the website.
That sounds so much more civilized than an enforced one day ritual. I'm glad to hear that it's successful.
Not any more - yesterday was our first frost free day of 2004!!! yeah!!! And also I am a great auntie againe - 5#10oz of wonderful little girl and our first US born in the family for quite a while
Congratulations Great Auntie!! :D
not cold anymore - in Dallas, raining and have been to a lovely nursery bought some cool succulents and a very big ear (going to plant it this am).
Where's the pictures?
Weezingreens Lois Hole says this about the Floramerica...
"It is her #1 choice...solid dark scarlet, excellent tasting (best for taste)".
Sounds wonderful, Lilypon. I looked them up, and it seems they take about 70 days to maturity. I'd need to get a real early start for those!
I know...noticed on the "net" someone said it had "poor taste" but our experience was certainly the same as Lois Holes.
I think I just need to work on growing tomatoes in the greenhouse. I always get too busy to pay them much attention, but I leave the door open so they can pollinate... don't have time to tickle! LOL!
Weezingreens I've discovered that the patent is now off on the Floramerica...the Patent Holder has developed another Florida hybrid and now anyone can sell seeds called Floramerica and they won't have the All American Award listed on the package. I will have to try Floralina which I read is supposed to be the replacement (more disease resistance).
Yes, always to give the new varieties a try, Lilypon, but it's often hard to improve on really good things. Keep us posted.
