Breast Cancer Stamp Booklet
We need those of you who are great at forwarding on information with your e-mail network. Please read and pass this on. It would be wonderful if 2003-04 were the year a cure for breast cancer was found!!!!
This is one email you should be glad to pass on. The notion that we could raise $35 million by buying a book of stamps is powerful! As you may be aware, the US Postal Service recently released its new "Fund the Cure" stamp to help
fund breast cancer research. The stamp was designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland. It is important that we take a stand against this disease that affects so many of our Mothers, Sisters and Friends.
Instead of the normal 37 cents for a stamp, this one costs 40 cents. The additional 3 cents will go to breast cancer research. A "normal" book costs $7..40. This one is only $8.00. It takes a few minutes in line at the Post Office and means so much. If all stamps are sold, it will raise an additional $35,000,000 for this vital research. Just as important as the money is our support. What a statement it would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week. What a statement it would make that we care.
Go out and purchase some of these stamps and e-mail your friends to do the same.
Many of us know women and their families whose lives are turned upside-down by breast cancer. It takes so little to do so much in this drive. We can all afford the $0.60. Please help & pass it on. Have a wonderful day!
Breast Cancer Stamps
Funny you should mention this Jo bc I was at the PO yesterday and asked for BC stamps and he told me they quit making them. I looked at him like he was nuts. I've used these stamps for 6 years. I think he was just having a bad day bc it was the first time they were open since Saturday bc of the ice and the lines were long and horrible and he didn't want to look in his drawer. I'll ask the "normal" people at the PO the next time I go in.
The next time I will buy them.
That's a great thing and keep buying them guys.. we don't have stamps like that here (don't know if there have been in the past?).
I remember getting a postcard from kmom (in DG), and it had the breast cancer stamps on it.
USPS online still offers them. They are 45 cents each and were issued in 2002.

Actually the first breast cancer stamp came out in the late '80's. I was given the 22 cent one in the form of a pin when I finished treatment for breast cancer.
Ok, I got the scoop on bc stamps. I talked to the lady at the po today, NOT the goofus I talked to last week, and here's the deal. According to federal whatever rules, they were only able to print the stamps for so long or until a certain year, she wasn't sure. Anyway, they stopped printing and it "literally" took an act of Congress to get them started up again so they will be back but she just hasn't gotten any yet. fyi....
Vic...I did the same...and my postmaster told me yesterday that they have been cleared for sale now. YIPEE!! Jo
As a 2 time C survivor ubetcha I'll buy them.
Paul
