I'm finally having Zone Envy big time! No, not for plants and gardening, but for myself, LOL. All this ice is really dampening my spirits, not to mention delaying my moving efforts.
Zone Envy
Hang in there! You must be really frustrated but from Wednesday forward, your temps are supposed to be in the high 40's during the day. February will be a tough month for you - so, we'll all be keeping our fingers crossed that you don't have anymore bad weather.
Remember when everyone else is dying with the extreme summer heat, you will be enjoying moderate temps and grass that is still green (while everyone else's is that burnt shade of tan).
Your moving has been delayed but hopefully, there is an end in sight for your nasty weather. Be good to yourself.
Nat, Thanks. I'm just venting my frustration... there's no place else to do it since I can't even get out of the house.
If that snow headed your way today on the weather map doesn't come on across to us, we should have about a week, at least, of temps. in the 40's during the daytime and all the ice melted.
I'm more worried that if another storm arrives when the movers are to be here, it could wreak havoc with moving and then closing on the house. My movers (for the big stuff only) come on Monday Feb. 9, and Jan's come the next day.
I have to get all the plants (inside and out) moved, plus my tools and personal; belongings, and kitchen stuff like food and the freezer moved myself. A truck cannot get in to the narrow lane to my aunt's house.
Vent away! I would be sweating it too, until I saw the end in sight.
It sounds like if you can just get through the middle of next week, at least you can get the large stuff moved on schedule. Did you say that your closing date is late in February? I am sure that you are finding it hard to believe just how much stuff you have as you are having to pack it all up.
Nat, closing has been moved up 2 weeks, to Feb. 12. It's going to be a tight finish even if the weather cooperates.
Yes, I am realizing what a Pack Rat I really am, LOL! I have more "stuff" than should be allowed. Problem is I want most of it!
I still have lots of my mother's clothes, etc. from putting her in a nursing home. I'll move those, just so I don't have to go through them now, and will try to sell the really good clothing on ebaY later. Same for all my old custom summerweight wool suits, and shoes.
Anyone need size 6-1/2 NEW (unworn!) Italian leather 2- 2-1/2 inch heels? Or 50+ pair in all the rainbow colors, barely worn? LOL.
Oh shoes! Telling myself "you only need so many shoes, resist". LOL I have worked really hard to reduce my shoe collection down to only the shoes that I really wear. Now if I could just make myself get rid of all those small size clothes that I will never wear. And if I could, I'd want new stuff!
Oh the date got moved up! That is a stresser. With one house that I sold where they were determined to close quickly, they agreed that I could store things in the garage for a couple of days past closing as long as I vacated the house. We then worked out a timeframe for me to empty the garage. Maybe this could be an option, especially if Asheville has more bad weather before the 12th.
hang in there darius!!! it will all be over soon. honest!!!
I hope all of the ice melts and the roads stay clear for your move. Is there any way you can set up an earlier alternative date for the moving company just in case there is another storm predicted?
I don't think anyone realizes how much stuff they have actually accumulated until it is time to move. Adam and I both are pack rats ourselves, so I understand completely. :o)
Carol, I actually wanted them to move my stuff the week before, but they were already booked.
Right now the forecast predicts snow for Feb. 5 & 6, but the forecast doesn't go past that date. If we do get snow, I just pray it is gone (or manageable!) by the 9th.
I predict sunny and warm!! :-) Good luck!!!!
