Do you have an air cleaner?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

We bought (supposedly) the top of the line and are wondering what others think about these ~ Living Air ~ advertised on KFI 640 Talk Radio in LA.

Edited to list the brand it is.

I really like mine. I sleep better at night with it on. My mother, who has asthma says hers really helps her breathing, as both live in a dry climate so there is lots of dust.

Did you get one of those Ionic Breeze ones from Sharper Image? I always see those ads when all the good stuff goes off the air and infomercials take over. I wondered if they work well. We have a Bemis console humidifier which has a filtration system in it, but I'd really like to get some room-sized cleaners to help with pet dander and dust.

The one I got is even more expensive than the Ionic Breeze ~ $900.00. Supposedly if it doesn't work, nothing will.

The humidity caused corosion inside and I sent it back to them. They are working on it right now. They have been good to stand behind it.

Yeah we do three of them, quite old ones.. and a warm-air blower we bought last Autumn (works as a cooler in the Summer)

We have a whole-house ventilator called the EZ-Breathe. It came as part of the basement waterproofing. It's not a filter, though. It's kind of noisy, and had we known this we would have put it on the other side of our laundry room rather than right under our bedroom. It does seem to do a good job of keeping the air fresh in the house, but I wonder how much heat it is pulling out, too. Our windows are not weatherproofed like they need to be, not by a long shot.

I think the brand we have in our bedroom at home is a Bioair and I know we have a Holmes that is good too. I would be dead(literally)without the one in our bedroom. I think we pay about $100 each for them at WalMart in '95.

There is no way that Ion thing on TV can work any better than a trinket setting in the middle of the room. Either will collect dust from the air. It takes a fan to move much air thru a true filter. Just common sense.

I LOVE my 2 Ionic Breezes.......
......Have had them for over 3 years. Boy, do they do the job. No moving parts means NO noise and NO parts to replace.
Annnnd.............
Like the comml says, NO filters to buy. You have a one time $$$ layout for the unit and that is that.
The large units operating cost is the same as keeping a small light on ,sumpin like 14 Watts ??? Not sure. I run them 24/7

leaflady,
.......... I am seriously chemical sensitive (Allergic Asthma) Last winter I painted LR & DR walls and ceilings which I normally would only do when it is warm out and I can run big exhaust fans.
.....Anywho, with the ionic breeze running the paint smell was almost un-noticeable =)
.........You can hold your hand a couple of feet away from the unit and feel the air moving as if a fan were running.
I wouldn't be without them =)

P.S.
One I keep in my cattery, if it can work there , it should work anywhere...JMO

.................EDIT..How could I forget this ? ?
I adore the fresh after rain smell in the air caused by the ionization ;~D
