DH flew in from Iowa last night.
God has given us a beautiful sunny day for him and Jerry to golf. Donna and I will play. This afternoon we will go to the Yard House in Costa Mesa for Happy Hour and 1/2 price appetizers! Sushi, Coconut Shrimp! (Just love a bargain!)
Hope you all have as wonderful of a day as we are going to have!
Going to PLAY with SoCal TODAY!
Oh just go rub it in! LOL I hope you all have a wonderful time!! I hope you enjoy some nice Cali weather opposed to what you left at home. :) Below zero with windchill, here today.
What a great way to spend a day! Wishing you both a great time!
I couldn't agree more, Michele, I wish I could be a fly on the wall and just watch you two. Have fun, this just sounds wonderful.
Wow, you lucky ducks! SoCal and Jerry, you be sure to give Arlene and her DH hugs from us -- gotta hold 'em over until the Roundup, okay?
We had a wonderful day in sunny California! Lotsa hugs!
We had a fabulous day today. Finally got to meet TLC's hubby and him and Jerry had a beautiful day on the golf course...it's was in the low 70's today.
Arlene and I hit 2 of my small favorite nurseries, although, there weren't many plants in bloom, just winter stuff. We then came back here and surfed through DG until the guys came home.
Then the 4 of us went to a local place and ate and drank through happy hour. Their appetizers were all 1/2 price during happy hour, so we got several kinds and we all shared.
This is what it is like when you meet new friends through DG. What an experience it has been, and I love it.
Sorry the picture is so dark, but we were sitting out on the restaurants patio and it was dark outside.
Thanks Arlene and Bruce for a wonderful day.
awwww yall! What a group picture!!! Arlene, nice to see you and your so neat to be around.
Donna-seeing your sweet picture just made me miss you even more!! (Jerry too).
Wow! Us pale MidWesterners better be careful. After all those hours on the golf course, Bruce is really sunburned!
I didn't notice it til I saw this pic. (guess I should look at my DH a little more often!)
Donna was surprised when she met my DH. Thinking back about it I laugh til I get tears in my eyes. She didn't realize we are both married to SHORT guys. LOL (works great for sharing golf clubs!) Neither one of them cared much about beating the other. They both golf for the pure joy of the game.
My uncle is my DH's best golf buddy and Bruce said Jerry reminded him of my uncle. Think these two guys will be golfing together more? They were immediately comfortable together having that golfing bond. But what's not to love about Jerry?!
And Donna, every time we are together, I just love you more. Think I will just move in with you! Then I can have my morning coffee every day in your lovely garden.
PS Donna gave Bruce a few lessons about composting.
Very Jealous here!!!I don't know if I would be yacking with you girls or losing balls with the guys!!I sure could go for a round of golf right now!
Sounds like a fabulous day!!!! Nice to see both of you.
Donna the pic was very nice but it does remind me I better start counting those points closer!
Arlene, I think you better pack up and move to CA quick! I looked at your zone, looked at Donna's zone. I made my mind up in a hurry! LOL
That is a great pic! It looks like you guys have known each other forever. :)
Look like everyone had a good day.
Arlene,
It looks like "I" had better start counting my points a lot more too...
Michele, oh yes, I think Arlene would rather be living back in my zone again too. She says that maybe when her DH retires, they might move back to warmer So. Calif.
We also feel like we've known each other too. We have a ball together and feel so comfortable with each others company.
Root, you would have loved playing yesterday with the guys..it was so nice outside. But, you would have had fun with us also. lol
Hi Joann, Lisa and Ruth, wish you all could have been here playing with us too.
Arlene will be back again in Feb. I wonder what type of mischief we can do then. lol
Donna
I think in Feb we will have to round-up Jul, Back2Back, Sheran . . . wow . . . Our So Cal group is growing fast . . can't even think of all the names off the top of my head . . those I didn't name please don't feel slighted!
Donna, you know I would have passed on golf, what a blast it would be to go GH hopping with you two!
Awww, look at ya. It is so cool to finally meet DG folks "IRL" (In Real Life). The roundups are wonderful, but it's also fun to just go knocking around with a couple people or have folks come for dinner or overnight.
Just got back from San Diego and a wonderful late Christmas with our children. I have never had this experience (being a chef). Bruces daughter made turkey and the fixins' and the next morning my oldest daughter made a brunch of Strata and Creme Brulee French Toast (made by grand daughter, Alexis; she is quite the little chef in her own right at 15). I just sat around, read my book and relaxed, eavesdropping on the conversations.
I said to my DH on the way home; we are so lucky to have such witty, bright, well educated children; we had many laughs and I am finallly feeling comfy with my new son-in-law!
It was also great to be gone because painters were in the Meadowbrook house for two days painting.
Tonight we go to our dinner club of 30 years for an Indian Dinner. And DH leaves at 5 AM Monday for cold Iowa. I will go back on Tuesday!
I have memories that will get me through til Spring. I love ALL my children! They are so delightful as adults!
What a great time you had, and an exciting life you lead, AND to be so close with your children!!
Back from dinner club; love Indian but this was over the top! Tomorrow SoCal comes to my house to play again! Can't wait!
How fun! To sit back and enjoy the feast prepared by others and watch others lovingly prepare it for you. For a Chef that must have been very special indeed!
My father-in-law was a chef, so we know the hours you put in - especially at holidays. Glad you got to be a, well, pampered chef. Oh, that's awful, I admit it.
How far apart do you and Donna live? My geography is awful - as bad as my puns.
It only takes 15-20 minutes to get to Donna's from here. We were going to play here today but she has a dental challenge so I will drive down this evening to take her some things. Sorry Back2Back and Sheran..maybe in February!
Wow, so if we travel out west sometime, we could hit two birds with one stone and see both of you, huh? Boy, that's a pipe dream right now, but it's something we'd love to do.
You bet GW and I am sure there would be beds for you (or couches).
But Donna and I will see you in KY.
Hey, we've a nice tent with two air mattresses -- no need to put anybody to trouble! Even have the van now if the weather turns nasty. :)
Well today didn't work for either of us to get together. I've been having some dental work and I was in some pain, then Arlene wasn't feeling well this evening, so we had to say goodbye over the phone. She will be back to Calif. next month again, and hopefully we will spend some more time together. It has been so nice to have a new garden friend to have fun with. We have so many things in common and feel so comfortable with each other.
Arlene leaves for home in Iowa tomorrow morning, but I know she wishes she could stay longer. It is so cold and snowy back there and we've been having beautiful weather.
Kim, I have a nice guest suite here just waiting for you or anyone else to come stay for a nice visit. I don't have any room outside for you to pitch your tent cause my whole yard is plants....lol
So, my friend, start saving for that vacation and get your tail out here.
Donna
