I put this link under recipes yesterday in response to JanieJoy, but if you didn't see it.......

Everything really is BIGGER in Texas !
HOLY MOLY! You could have fish everyday and still have enough for a year!
We have pretty good sized ones in our town too. http://www.mindspring.com/~cosmojo/grandpa/record.htm It is hard for me to imagine a cat as big as these guys have caught.
Oh my, those are huge. I have ver seen catfish before, but I heard from some Finnish tv-program about Kissakala:sta, kissa means cat, and kala means fish, so I thought these are same, but they are not. Kissakala is really dangerous, I dont know where they live. But a man in the program told that sometimes they come on beach water, and they look dead. Couple times some small childer have went to see them, and the fish has chewed their hand of. Horrible fish.
Here is small one. http://www.nettilinja.fi/~hadak/kissakala.jpg
Yep, Dea........and that fishin' hole is right down the road from me.......you get a line, and I'll get a pole, honey...we'll down to the fishin' hole....
"eyes"
Wow those are some big fish! Safe from me though. I don't fish and I don't like catfish. LOL Brugie, look at the arms on that man on the right!! Wooo hooo :) Mitjo, your fish looks like a Piranha! I don't know seriously, but those teeth sure look mean!
you get a line, i'll get a pole, babe :) Love that song!
Mitjo - that is one scary fish!
Yeah, it sure looks very mean:) I found out, that these Kissakalat live in Norway.
I worked for a company that imported Catfish from the Amazon River. They were frozen and shipped in 50 lb crates. One day there was a big commotion in the plant when they broke open one crate and it contained ONE fillet that weighed 50 lbs. Glad I never met the whole fish!
Pati
Hey Dea, thanks for posting this link. I live only 45 minutes from the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, Texas. I can hardly wait to see this fellow on display. For any of you who get a chance to visit this place, it is really interesting.
eyes: I'll bring a line if you'll get the pole. We need to find this fish's daddy.
Bill
I caught a fish on 8lb test line whose head lined up with the left fender of our 57 chevy pickup and it's tail hung over about 4 or 5 inches on the other side.
I never thought anything about it being a record and it didn't put up a fight. If it had, it would have broken my line. That was 21 yrs ago in WV.
There was an old lady who took care of about 6 grandchildren and they were always hungry. We took the fish down to her and she cried. Said that thing would feed them for a month!
I used to have a picture of it but lost it moving around.
Steph
breezy, that seems to now be your big one that got away. *giggle*
Sorry, I couldn't help it.
*hiding as Breezy lobs a big handful of guts my way*
Oh, no! Didn't you know those fish gutts make good fertilizer???
But, if you are ever down my way I will drag you to the closest fishin hole and make you do pennance by going fishing with me. My hubby now, doesn't fish at all. I haven't gone fishin in.....goodness it's been 12 years!
Oh how I miss it!
Steph
Kenbridge, Virginny!!? Heck, I can't be too far away!
I'll bring the bait! (You know...the secret to catching fish is "you gotta kpppp dhaaahh biiitttatiii wwwwwwrummm").
(Translated: "you gotta keep the bait warm", he says as he spits a worm into the palm of his hand.)
Yuck! shoe!
Shoe, I am experienced in keeping "wooms ffoooe bbaaiiiit wwwwrruuuuummmm". Been doing that since I was a sprout. I'm now a giant bean with a big pond in my front yard that has fish waitin' on ya to visit.
Great! Bet we can carry on great conversations, and even understand each other, while we fish!
Shoe I have been able to carry on garbled conversations since I was a small child chatting with my uncle in duck talk. We would chat for hours in that mode. lol Great memories of sounding just like Donald Duck.
Hah...I've never mastered that! Guess I better get practicing.
Quack! Quack!
Shoe you are sounding duckier and duckier all the time. lol
I wonder how many people still plant a fish under every corn seed?
Guilty.
On one of our catfishing trips I saved the heads/guts to show Alex how the "Indians" planted corn. She enjoyed the process but didn't enjoy the smell!
Man, you guys make me really miss fishin'.................. I suppose it's been 3 years or more. Have to look at the date on my trout license, LOL.
Is that an eel? Is it gonna be plant food or people food?
Yep! That's an eel allright! Them things can sure wind themselves up around a trotline too!
I cooked a couple eels some years back. Not bad but not really special. (After we ate, I told my wife what we just had.) :>)
Horseshoe, I bet your wife was duly unimpressed with what your menu was ! I wonder if she took up more of the cooking after that?
Darius, you don't need a license to fish at my place. Come on over. ( don't tell Darius that whilest here I will have plenty of weeding to be done by any visitors.)
LOL, Pond!
darius, I even have a motorhome/camper hookup so you can stay for a while. It seems to me that I read that you are retired. Hmmmm maybe it meant that you wanted to be retired.
