It happened again

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Another scorpion sting. OUCH, OUCH, OUCH!!!
I went to let my sweet Maggie May out to potty at 2:30 in the morning and promptly stepped on a scorpion. It is the most painful sting you can possibly imagine. I have been on codiene all day as that is the only thing strong enough to calm me down. It doesn't stop the pain in my foot but I don't mind it as much. It take about 48 hrs before it stops stinging. It feels like someone sticking a red hot poker in my foot each time I step down on it. I think that I will think about moving back to Oregon if it happens once more. I love the climate here in Arizona but I'd rather deal with the rain and cold then dealing with the scorpions. Dang them anyways.

Jan, hope your foot soon stops hurting.

Wow, that's awful! I lived a few times in scorpion country but Thankfully have never been bitten. I cannot imagine how painful it must be.

I remember we used to put the feet of the baby's bed in glass jars (with water?) to keep the scorpions out of the bed.

many years ago, lived in Texas. My xdh fell asleep on the floor of the living room, front door open. Scorpion crawled in stung him on the neck twice. He ended up in the ER. Scary. I feel for ya Jan. Take care now

Feel Better soon!!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Yikes! I think I'd be wearing leather shoes to bed just in case I had to get up during the night. Feel better soon!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Need to get some good slippers for your birthday. Feel better soon.

Yikes! And to think that bees and wasps make me squirm! I can't even imagine being attacked by one of those little lobsters. ;) They are some nasty looking critters. I hope the effects wear off soon.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Oh, megaouch! I think every place on earth has it's drawbacks, but I'm thankful we don't have scorpions here. I do not go barefoot anyhow, too many thorny things laying around and I am a real tenderfoot.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

My foot is doing much better now. I can touch it without it hurting. I wore thongs today, a bit chilly but it helped until I ran over it with the shopping cart. I give up. I guess I will have to resort to combat boots. LOL. I am going to be fine now. I just get these little jolts like electic shocks every now and then. I think that the poison stays in your nervous system for a while. A few days if I remember right. Thanks for your well wishes. I do not wish the little buggers on anyone except maybe Osama Bin Ladin. Heheh

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Ohhhhhh, ouch! I've never had the dubious pleasure of living or visiting any place where those critters live.

This is a good picture, Jan -- you walking the dog in the wee hours of the morning (wee to me, anyway!), pillow-hair all askew, and wearing a housecoat with combat boots.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

ROTHLOL. Very funny. Fortunately all I have to do is open the back door to the yard. But I chose to step out as there were alot of stars out. BIG MISTAKE!
I won't do that again without my shoes on. Heheh

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Ouch Jan! Are you sure that maggie may cannot be taught to use the indoor plumbing? Lol

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I was just thinking Shoe should avoid Tombstone AZ. But then he has pretty tough feet, might be a chore for one of your scorpions. :)

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Yea, I wish I could teach her to use the toilet but she 14 and it's hard to teach her new tricks now. Besides I would rather clean up the yard then the carpet if you know what I mean. Heheh.

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

I would be worried about my pets too, what if they get stung, I am so glad that i don't have that to worry about. Here it is rattle snakes and black widow spiders and brown recluse, I am glad to here you are all better, On behalf of the scorpion ( as i am a scorpion born 11/7/1970) i am so sorry , and i am sure it was just a instinctive reaction for him. ohh i am just getting shivers thinking of living where they are ,
