PLEASE..hope I can do a happy dance NOW !!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

I have been soooo bummed out this past month. On Dec.15 I traded my 1988 Pathfinder, which I loved,on a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee....wanted working AC and 4 doors because of the dogs. It came with a dealer warrenty of 30days or 1000 miles. Since I bought "Poppy" she has been in the shop over 2 weeks...they had to rebuild the transmission TWICE. Yesterday when I drove her home she did great until I got to the driveway where she started to "clatter". grrrrr

We took her back to the service center this morning. The clatter was a metal shroud that had gotten hot enough in the 30+ miles home to expand and hit on a bolt. It was taken off and realigned...no more clatter.

YEA...Poppy drove great all the way home and no strange noises when I got here. I really, really like my new (at least to me)Jeep. Keep your fingers crossed for no more problems so I can happy dance!! :-)))

sure will Ginger!!! we had a very similar situation, bought a new (to us) car in December and had to have the transmission rebuilt almost right away. We couldn't drive the thing for almost a month. Working like a charm now, knock on wood.
Hope yours does the same!

Here is to Poppy, long may she run, without any clatter and allow you some fun, driving about with the AC to keep cool and do Happy Dances til you feel like a fool. But dance anyway for the joy of a car that will carry you safely to places both near and far.

Be sure to wax her skin so she will know she is loved. WOW I think a plane just landed in my backyard. I wish they would fly a little higher. Crasulady2

:-))Happy Dance:-)) Went to crimsontsavo's this morning and to the post office and store...Poppy did good!! Now I feel comfortable making a vet appt. next week. We're changing vets...Payne is due shots and I'll take Rhodie as well so she and the vet can meet. Don't need to break down with over 200lbs. of dogs along. LOL

Ginger, sounds like you really deserve your Happy Dance!!

I dread something major happening to my 12 year old pickup but it still has the original clutch, which worries me. I try to keep it serviced, though, and belts changed before they break.

Since I'm moving in a few weeks, I'll need to find a new Vet, also. Good Luck!

Ginger hopefully you will have many happy miles with Poppy.

Hey Ginger, I know you like your new vet. So, how's the wheels holding up?

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

Hey GW..the wheels are holding up good. We've been to town several times with no problems. YEA!!

Excellent! We know what a relief it is to have a reliable vehicle after driving on pins and needles, so to speak.

Yuppers..only one problem...now I have to ask Bill permission to drive MY jeep. I hate his truck as I have to eat the steering wheel in order to reach the peddles! Not cool with an air bag.

Hi Ginger,
Just wanted to let you know that I have a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee also that I bought about 4 mos. ago. I absolutely LOVE it and have had no problems at all. DH and I always buy used one-owner vehicles. I think that is critical when shopping for a used vehicle and would never buy one from a car lot. Always ask for the service record and you can tell from their home (we look for affluent and immaculate) and general demeanor whether they are the type who cares for their vehicle. It takes a little searching, but well worth it. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I guarantee you will love it once all the problems are ironed out :)
