A Billion

The next time you hear a politician use the words "billion" casually, think about what a “billion” really means.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into perspective in one of its releases:

A billion seconds ago, it was 1959.

A billion minutes ago, Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago, our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate Washington spends it.

A billion years ago this planet had blue-green algae growing on it and not much else. Evolution was thinking Trilobytes, but that didn't work either. (Well it did for a few million years) Then Dinosaurs, big, ugly, and all died. Some funny mammals, Sabre-tooth cats, Hairy elephants, now us. We got Earth now. Make it or break it. Think I'll just watch.

I HATE thinking about what a billion means!

I would have made it to the hot seat on "who wants to be a millionaire", but blew it on the question about how many a billion is in England (compared to the USA).

Need perception on numbers?
Look at the recent Powerball jackpot that went to $240,000,000 dollors. Everyone went Ga-Ga over the amount & spent their hard earned money trying to win it.
Now the jackpot is back to ONLY a few million & no ones interested!
One guy in our neighboring town won one of the $100,000.00
prizes. Guess what ?, he is very happy!
One way to look at one billion number is that is only $3.33
per person in the United States.
So long for now, I am going to see if I can find a buck for a pop later today!
