Back To School for me

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Tomorrow bright and early 1st class is at 7:45 am.

I am so not looking forward to going back! I'm carrying 20 hours this semester, plus I have an additional 80 realtime hours of classroom observation to do.

I sure hope it goes quick, school sure does cut down my DG time A LOT!!

Melissa

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Ack! Like the song says, I've grown accustomed to her face...And now you'll be scarce again! We'll miss seeing you around as much, Melissa!

Best wishes on your return to school, Melissa -- hope it'll be unexpectedly enjoyable and that the time will go fast.

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

eek you start already? i start on wednesday the 16th...if wednesday is in fact the 16th. and if its not, then i'm not sure if i start on wednesday or on the 16th. uhooh. i wish you luck! what are you studying?

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Thanks Kimberly. I miss not being around home all day too. :-(

Thanks Whiterose, it wasn't too bad, I've got a lot of the same professors I've had before, but I already have homework! ICK

Art n Garden, yes, we resumed today. We'll be finished with Spring Semester the last week of April though, so that is a plus to starting back earlier in the summer and after Christmas. I'm a Secondary Education Major--History and Psychology. I eventually want to be a High School Guidance Counselor.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Melissa--You're really ambitious! How do you do it all? Mom, gardener & student?

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I only work part time, and my husband helps me tremendously with the garden and the kids! I'm lucky!

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

A hubby that helps? Sounds like a "keeper".

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I remember those days! Good Luck! Doesn't take brains . . . just perseverance!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I only have 2 semesters left... I'm in the home stretch. :-)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I think you should sell me a couple of those acres! Then Eden could come keep my bunch happy so you and I could plant more!! :) Keep up the good work! You'll be done before you know it.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I think we should go together and build a greenhouse, then you can drive out, and Eden and Cole can keep the girls entertained while we play in the dirt.

You are MORE than welcome to plant any ole thing you want out here, especially Daylilies!

tee hee hee

We could be the Blonde Bloomin Ladies or something...

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Melissa hang in there you will done before ya know it.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

HA! LOL I may be getting my greenhouse in a month or so, unless I opt for paying off credit cards instead. LOL It would kill me to have a greenhouse that far away. I figure we have about two more years to find that 'perfect spot' to move to. We definately need to move before the eldest has to cross the city to go to school. ICK!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Well.... I know where there is some land, and it just happens to be located within the best school district in Clermont County. ;-)(According to the State of Ohio)
You're in Hamilton aren't you? What district are you in? Anderson or Turpin?

Good Luck though, Land is just absolutely outrageous out here anymore.

Mystic, I forgot to add you in, we cold be the 3 Something or other! It's perfect Chele... I'm midway point for both of ya!

This was taken from my front porch.

I am in Hamilton County, but actually City of Cincinnati schools. That is the big ick! Turpin AND Anderson are both actually closer to us than the Cincinnati High Schools! Those high schools are about ten minutes from us yet my kids will have to spend more than an hour on a bus to go to the other side of town. Even if they test into the 'best' school, it is still that far away. Sigh....Gotta love the public school system.
We do want to move *out* at some point but I don't know how far out or which way. Craig still works in Tri-County and I think he would cry if he had to drive all the way from your part of the country. LOL

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Our daughters attended the same high school I did. My youngest even acts in & belongs to my old Thespian Troupe.
We have 5 large high schools in town. No bussing--just "open enrollment". You can go to any school you want if they have room for your kid. But YOU have to drive them there. The city is only 1/2 hour from cornfield to cornfield, so it's no big deal. We have 26 grade schools, 10 middle schools & 4 big high schools (1600-1800 students each). We have a 6,000 student Community college & 2 private colleges in town.

Our grade school was an award winner just 5 blocks away. Our Middle School was special too & 2 blocks away. (I still manage the gardens there.) Our high school is 2.5 miles. I've been very pleased with the education & extras offered our kids. Cedar Rapids--A great place to raise kids

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Wanda, education is very important to us, especially with that sixth little one on the way. BUT, if I told my hubby we were moving a zone colder for schools, I think he'd shoot me! LOL Now, tell me you are in zone 9-10 and I'll start begging for accomodations! :)

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Closer to tri county, I think the Lakota Schools are about the best there are. I know they are doing some amazing things in the High School.

:-)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Lakota does have excellent schools. I went there until third grade then went back my Sophomore year. My neice just graduated from Lakota last year and my sister has two, soon to be three daughters enrolled. She also is married to a lawyer and just built upward of a $300K house. I think I won't be moving there soon. LOL Maybe I'll look on the ouskirts. ;)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

What, Craig wouldn't like to have to dig and store even MORE tender plants, Chele? LOL!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Hah Kimberley, you think Chele lets anybody close to digging her plants but herself? Craig wouldn't have to worry about digging them she wouldn't let him.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Well....I'm sure she doesn't turn down help in piling 'em all in the garage, LOL! I sure wouldn't!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Let's see....how many plants did Craig dig this year? Oh yeah, that would be 0!!! He did watch me dig up all the canna though. And the ears. And the bananas. And the brugs. He even helped me take everything to the garage EXCEPT the canna. So after all my work digging those, took a whole day, every single one of them froze in huge Rubbermaid tote in the back yard! I kept telling him it was too heavy. I even said we could put them in smaller buckets to move them. No help. Gee. Yeah, I should have insisted! LOL

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Hi Melissa and I reckon I know what ya mean about "back in school"! Although I'm not carryin quite the load you are. Land sakes! Are you Wonder Woman?? 20 hours this semester?!
Good luck with your rather full schedule!

TC...

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Thanks TC...
The lowest hours I've ever carried was 17. After this semester I only have 22 more hours, (7 Classes) left to take.

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Fantastic Melissa! I still have a ways to go yet, about 60 more credits is what I need. I wish I could take more credits per semester but 12 is my limit. I don't have the time, nor the stamina, for much more than that.

TC...

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Wowsers. Sometimes I miss school. I enjoy being a homemaker and would like to do more with photography, so I can't really justify going back to college. I miss it sometimes, though!

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

gw, go back for photography! It's never to late ya know!

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Our local Junior college has some great night classes on photography, cooking & lots more. We have a full day of perennial & garden design classes next Saturday sponsored by Ames Iowa University Horiculture. One of my firnds is going with me.

Elkhart, IA(Zone 5a)

Have any on you gone to the Herbaceous Perennials symposium in Ames, Iowa? It's usually in November.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

anahi,
Llilyfan and WillisGardens went to that; I couldn't get away for it.

Elkhart, IA(Zone 5a)

I've gone to it for the past 4 years and wouldn't miss it for anything. Of course I only live 20 minutes away from Ames. Kinda expensive but it's a traditional way to end the gardening season. They always have great speakers, well worth the money.
