Now how about what you craved while PG

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

I was only pregnant once in my life and I can still remember the time I ate a small jar of mayonnaise with lemons! YUK! To this day it has to be Miracle Whip instead of mayonnaise which still makes me sick to think about.
I wonder what it was in there that made me grave it.
Now lemons I can still eat, even plain with no sugar or sweeteners.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Gosh, how long do we have? LOL With my first two pregnancies, it was Little Debbie Nutty Bars. The third pregnancy I craved white cheddar popcorn. I don't think there was anything crazy the fourth pregnancy but company DH worked for filed for bankruptcy and he lost his job. Anything we could afford tasted pretty good! Believe it or not, during my fifth pregnancy, I could have lived on Slim Jims and Beef Jerky. I have not had any really crazy cravings with this one, but I have been eating a lot of onion bagels with cream cheese! Anybody got one????

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

OH now little Debbie Nutty Bars sound good.
I wonder if anyone really ever craves pickles and ice cream as is always mentioned.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

So, did Jazzy make her grand entrance smelling of new baby smell and garlic? ;)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ha Kimberley! LOL She likes meat though. :)

Hey Slim Jims and beef jerky are good ANY time! And how can you go wrong with Little Debbie???

I do love pickles and I do love ice cream, but together? NO WAY!! Favorites...Claussen Dill Halves and almost any bread and butter pickle! As far as Ice Cream, it has to be Private Select Moose Tracks or UDF Peanut Butter N Chip, however their Reese Peanut Butter is pretty good too. LOL

Badseed would you believe last time Linda was that way I craved a boat. I decided if I kept waiting to afford it I never would so I went and bought it. Well I quess some would call that a craving.Ernie

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

I craved raw Devil's Food cake batter with both of my pregnancies. I used to make up a whole box of it just to sit down and fill up with a few spoonfuls! LOL!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I have to go back about 34 years to remember that, but when my first son was incubating back in 1965, I ate an entire gallon of pepperocini peppers during the process. I still love em!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

This is great, this thread!.......I was just talking to my son the other day about that time..and I remember hitting the fish and chip mart almost every day in the West End of Vancouver, B.C. The acidic taste, the malt vinegar, I craved no end. With my daughter, 19 mos later, my cravings were nil????? Hard to figure out???

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

With my first daughter I craved liver. I still remember what it's like to be 8 months preggers and digging to the bottom of my MIL's chest type freezer searching for frozen liver.

With daughter #2 it was pickled okra. By the gallons! She also loves it, so she learned well during those months.

With my son, I can't remember craving anything, I think I just ate everything in large quantities. :)

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I was sick the first few months but recovered enough to eat every pistachio nut in the Chicagoland area!

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Hamburger dills, straight out of the jars, 2 or 3 jars straight away, then never again. I don't even like them on burgers anymore.

Later on in late November in Michigan, I craved a watermelon. Very difficult to find at that time of year. When we finally found one, a very large one, I ate half right out of the shell, then forgot about the rest of it. LOL

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Actually, I think I craved revenge mostly..LOL Especially during labor.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

LOL!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

With my 1st.. craved for Chinese foods.. went to Chinese resturant with REDROSE almost every once a week... With 2nd.. craved for fresh oranges. I ate three or four oranges a day! I had to go and bought some more .. big big bags of Naval Orange! Yummy! With the 3rd.. Twix candies!!!! My Dh had to buy one everydays for me! lol.. Right now... Reese is for me!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

With my first it was Buttermilk with salt. I couldn't count the # of gallons I drank during those 9 months.(now he hates buttermilk)

Second one, was boiled peanuts and boiled shrimp. I remember feeling like I couldn't get enough of them.

Third, was pizza. With thick crust and all the cheese and pepperoni that it would hold.

My Mother always said if you don't get what you crave then the baby will cry for it until he gets it.

My Mother had 7 childern and with her 2nd baby she craved turnip greens. She didn't get to have any while she was still carrying him but about 1 month after he was born her own Mom had some turnip greens cooking for her. When they arrived the baby started crying and crying and nothing seem to soothe him. My Grandmother knew about my Moms cravings and more or less put 2 and 2 together....they took some of the pot liquor and cooled it and gave him some in a bottle.
She says she remember only giving him like 1/2 ounce of it but that baby slept for hours after that and she never had a problem with him after that. That was 55 years ago though and now I couldn't see me giving my baby turnip green juice! LOL

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

MollyBee, never heard that wives tale. Sounds like a good one, though. Maybe we should take those tales more seriously.
My mom always craved freshly ripened garden tomatoes. She had three kids in July, so she had a couple of weeks to satisfy her urge. She had me in April so I think she may have overdone it, I hate fresh tomatoes.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

With my first one, I craved McDonald's Quarter Pounders with cheese...can you imagine? ! I ended up living with my brother and sister-in-law because my fiance had been killed in a car accident (I was almost 3 mths along), so my brother spoiled me rotten! He'd go to town (we lived in the country) late at night to get me a burger. :)

Then with my second, I craved garlic bread and sour cream onion dip. I could have eaten that everyday and may have, I don't remember.

With my third I think I just ate anything that crossed my path :)

I still eat all (not together) and once in a very while a McD burger....

LOL Ernie, love the boat story!

For me: tator tots, crawfish and ice, couldn't get enough.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

That boat was the first of many still have a fast one.

Thank goodness Linda hasn't gotten that way in a long time new boats are expensive.

A little one is great to visit with but take to much energy full time. Ernie

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Ernie! What are we going to do with you??? A boat? LOL

I have also had a thing for crab legs for the past few months. We were going every week or so, but even the buffet starts to get expensive for a family of 7! LOL I wonder if I could sneak out by myself......hehehehehe

Joan! Liver?? Ewwwwww. I'd die first!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Bad crabs are free here thats one benifit of being close to the salt water I hope where you live they don't sell you Snow Crab. Dungeness are thick here.

I commericaly fished them years ago when I was young and tough caught thousands of pounds in Oct Nov.

Nothing better than hot fresh crab boiled in sea water it lived in.

Reference to crab legs must mean King?.

Have you tried Surimi? Fake crab measured for what it is it's ok measured against the real thing it is not the same but you may be able to fool the crave with it.Ernie

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

So when shall I expect that box of crab??? LOL Oh, snow crab is fine and Alaskan King crab is awesome!! We do have the artificial crab here in sticks and chunks and the kids and I love it cold, right from the pack. Not bad for reanimated whitefish. :)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

When I was pg I craved only one thing... A pork chop sandwich that was only available from John's Pork Chop House in Butte Montana. We lived in Wyoming almost 500 miles away so when I was 8 and a half months along I wrote a note to my hubby and got in our car and drove by myself that 500 miles to tank up on three of those huge sandwiches. When I started home the next day I stopped in at the sandwich shop and they had packaged up a dozen of the chops for me to take home and cook.

Hmmmm maybe that is why our son likes to drive a long distance for dinner. lol

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)
