We get them every year - socks, hankies and not so nice smellies.
What is your best gift this year?
What is your least favorite gift?
'tis Christmas morn - favorite and least favorite gift
I have no least favorites. But I got a wonderfully framed picture of my 4 beautiful grandchildren. :) My hubby saw the need for me to have some peace and gave me a GC for scrapbooking. :)
Clearly the BEST and MOST APPRECIATED GIFTS in the house today were the 2 small cans of Savory Seafood Dinner, one for each cat. They don't get canned cat food as a rule, and they put on their most friendly poses for more!!
As for the gifts I received... several BOOKS on heirloom tomatoes, cooking, and How to Live with a Neurotic Cat!!
I love all my gifts. Since Mrs. Santa is in the position of having to buy for the "man who has everything" or at least could buy it if he wanted to, I am always amazed how creative and thoughtful the gifts are. At some time in their life everyone should be so blessed. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Favorite: Digital Camera! :))))))) (Look out Dave's)
Least Favorite: None...needed each and every one...even
the socks :)
Lilypon!!! Let me see some pics!
Gotta learn how to use it ;)also getting an updated (used)
computer so I can post the pics :))))))))))))!!!!!
Best: Would have to be the look on my childerns faces when they saw what all Santa had left for them under the tree.
Worst: Don't think I got any I would consider worst. All mine were special this year.
I think my favorite gift was the bookshelves mom and dad bought us. We finally have our books off of horizontal surfaces and onto shelves where they needed to be!
My sons really amazed me this year. I had apparently showed one of them a picture of a wagon type cart like the greenhouses use, and they were wonderful enough to go track one down for me. It has sides that raise and lower and looks like it will be wonderful for all of my heavy moving projects outside. It says it can handle up to 1200 pounds which is a lot more than I can, so it should be great!!!
I am thrilled with the cart, but really touched by the fact that they had even noticed when I had mentioned it!!
My children never quit amazing me!!!
Oh wonderful it's snowing not. Thankful that I get presents at all I don't have a worst. I did get a special gift in the form of a wheel barrow. It is a dual wheel type that my son says I can use for a walker when I tire of yardening.
I think he bought it out of self defense thinking he would have less to do to catch me up when he comes around. Again not true he always helps me with the hard stuff and for that I am thankful that I don't have to ask. So it's like Christmas all year long. Ernie
My son bought us a TIVO and my husband bought me some gardening books. I don't have a least favorite unless it would be paying for all the stuff we got.

my best was my 6 year olds used doll she carefully wrapped up for me when I was busy in the kitchen, along with a homemade kitty ornament out of gift tissue and crayons and ribbon. There was also a crude card that said "mom, i love you" She did all this without me knowing.
O I wouldn't trade my homemade gift for any amount of money in the world. Those are the most dearest and closest to my heart kind of gifts.
In fact I can't even count the number of gifts I've gotton that wound up being out of the toy box.
My favorite gift was three books of obituaries published in a newspaper from Clarion County, PA dating from 1913-1920. I know that makes me sound like a wierdo, but you'd have to be a die-hard genealogist to appreciate how totally AWESOME this gift is!
I don't have a least favorite, really. My mother did buy me a mixer to replace the one that I got 19 years ago for a wedding gift. That's probably the most boring thing I got, but I really did need it!
My most appreciated was a dryer mine quit today and my FIL went and bought me one i don't have a least unless you include the levi jeans size 12!! I was a 20 this time last year!!!!!!! that my mom bought me and my rottweiler grabbed and chewed up, I cried all night last night. That was the only present i got that was a thoughtful gift, I went and dug them out of the trash this morning and decided i would try them on any way and they fit so good i sent my DH to walmart to get me a patch to put over the Big hole in the Butt and i am going to start a NEW style LOL, but i am still depressed........
I spent a wonderful Christmas with my brother, SIL and nieces. Everything was great. The best present though was when I opened a box from my parents and on top of the tissue paper was scotch tape. I picked it up and said look what I got. Then it dawned on me that my parents would have been wrapping presents when the tape vanished. I spoke with them yesterday and yes they had to go out and get more tape. We all had a good laugh.
Best? Some very special hugs, smiles and tears!
Got up early and finished glazing a ham; let it cool a bit and jumped in the truck with it to drive down to the ER at the hospital where my sweet DIL had pulled a 12 hour shift on Christmas Day (she's an ER Nurse). The look on her face when they took me through the doors was the best gift in the world :) And the rest of the staff's hugs!
Happy Holidays to all my friends. I couldn't help but post.
I look forward to seeing all the bulbs the generous members at DG traded to me (or gave). But this Spring/Summer will be especially exciting. Dear Hubby asked me to marry him all over again (renew our vows). He suprised me with a beautiful "engagement ring" for Christmas and a request that we be married in our garden this June 1st (his birthday) I am on cloud nine. After 17 years we are still going strong. I will be thinking of all you, like I always do when I walk through the gardens.
Blessings,
Davena
What nice gifts you all got!
My favorite gift was our purchase of a railroad container box for a storage building. With it being 8 feet wide by 40 feet long and double doors on the back and a six foot roll-up door near the front it will be a long time before I run out of storage room here.
Our thoughtful son bought me a propane torch so I can have my own for doing copper things for the garden. He also heard my plea for my own hacksaw. The very funny part of that is the day before Christmas Eve I had been to an estate sale and bought a lot of 44 saws with four hacksaws being part of the lot.
From many of my friends here at DG I got the best gift of all. Friendship means so very much to me and I thank you for it all the time.
Lani
BESTEST-having all 5 of my boys here and Elizabeth! :)
best gift-LORD OF THE RINGS FIGURES,white sweater, white scarf.
worst gift-dish towels!(mil)
Best of all - having the medicines all kick in at once so I can suddenly walk like a normal person.
2nd best - having Richard able to be with us at Christmas dinner.
Gifts :
DH - electric edger so we won't be the only ones with a natural edge to our lawn.
me: a long warm winter coat with hood, with secret pockets so I don't have to carry a purse unless I want to... and ... a Roomba robotic sweeper!
And I'm with Lani : my DG friends are truly a gift from God.
Lani, I can just see you with all the saws... >wink<
My favorite was the new meat thermometer. I always like all the gifts I receive even if I really don't know what to do with it. I love the thought that they gave it to me.
New jammies and slippers, from my two youngest sons!
"Let It Be--Naked" (Beatles), from my oldest son,
and a beautiful necklace from my sweetie..called the Heart Dance: "Two beings sharing the eternal dance of life; spirits moving together about a center of love, the space between them symbolizing the infinate capacity for loving one another" The amazing thing is I had seen it when I had been in the store shopping for someone else, loved it, but didn't even mention it to anyone...after 25 years he still manages to sweep me off my feet.
It sounds like many of you had nice gifts!
My favorite gift this year was a leather jacket.
My least favorite but funniest gift I ever got (3 years ago) was when my daughter obviously had gone shopping at a 2nd Hand Store.
In a garment box were 2 old dingy bras twice my cup size, a pair of used jeans TWICE my size, and a pair of high heeled pumps all scuffed up (I can't wear high heels). She was about 11 years old at the time, and although it was hysterically funny, all of those watching me open the gift tried very hard not to laugh, and I think I turned about 10 shades of purple.
I still have the box, with the gift. I don't think I could ever throw it out - makes me laugh every time I see it.
:)
It's hard for me to pick a favorite, my kids went together and got me a 12cu ft. Craftsman Garden Trailer, and my DH got me a GC for more mulch at the local sawmill. He also got me a new stereo, he felt sorry for me trying to play my Christmas CD's on my computer!
But best of all was the fact that we had time with each and every one of our entire family, lots of special time with my grandchildren, and especially two sweet little grandbabies that put up with all of my huggin and kissin!!
Oh yeah, Least favorite: The box of Chocolates from a well meaning older family friend I gave away to my daughter (age 23, about size 5) about 5 seconds after the wrapping was off!!! (Or else you know what would happen, I would eat them!!!) I was very well blessed! Legit
A CD of 'Under Milk Wood' by Dylan Thomas, with the original recording by Richard Burton mixed with a cast of current actors the best - superb!!
Oh.....and a cuddly Eeyore from my grandchildren :-D
I'm lucky not to have a worst ;)
philomel... what a wonderful gift,,, the Richard Burton cd of Under Milkwood!
I have no idea what EEyore is, though.
Philomel,
OHHHHH EEyore! I wandered through Walmart with a talking EEyore one day debating if I REALLY needed it. lol I decided that I NEEDED eyeglasses more. But that EEyore was soooo cute and he is my favorite Winnie the Pooh character.
I'll have to see if I can listen to the Under Milk Wood cd at the store.
Karrie,
I giggled a lot today thinking of your favorite gift. What a thoughtful daughter you have there! Too bad she didn't know your size. lol
He's the donkey in the Winnie the Pooh stories darius.
The only Winnie the Pooh book I owned as a child was the one about Eeyore losing his tail (and finding it again) so he's been my favourite for ever...
A couple of years ago the other set of grandchildren bought me an Eeyore pyjama case, complete with detachable tail. And this new little cuddly one has a tail that velcros on and off too - pin the tail on the donkey!!
:)
What great gifts everyone's had! .....and it is the thought that counts after all, even if occasionally misplaced. It's the ones that not much thought has gone into that disappoint, because that gives a feeling that you are not much valued by the donor.
I loved reading all your stories. I feel Lani's must be among the most unusual ;) and yes, all friends, both here and elsewhere (including family when we're lucky enough to call them friends too) are very precious
Have fun using all those great gifts in 2004
I only wanted two things for Christmas and I received both. I've been wanting a new Claddagh ring for about a year and it showed up under the tree. :) The other thing I wanted was a new foot bath with heat and massage. A tired, working, pregnant mom NEEDS one of those! LOL It too was under the tree. For the first time in several years, we spent Christmas Eve with my in-laws and a few days later with my family (nope, not my mother). It was strangely familiar like old times. My four year old managed to stay healthy this year too. We were truly blessed this year. I guess the only bad thing...we didn't have snow! Yes, I said that out loud. LOL
my favorite was a $500 check from my GM
did not have a least fac this year my SIL gave GC"s this year instead of stuff she got free off the internet. last year she gave me a chia head. it is stillin the box. i thought of giving it back to her this year but brian((BF)for those that know yes we are back together again) would not let me
