TC, I'll tell you a story (I know you appreciate a good story). When Tory was born, I was there, in the delivery room. We had had a real bad time because my family was in a very bad auto accident when Tory's mom was 6 mths pregnant. We almost lost the both of them...so Tory is another miracle baby. Anyhow, I went to all the appts with my daughter, saw all the ultrasounds, etc. Thought at the last minute I might not be able to go in because of a possible C section, but God saw to it that that didn't need to be. :) I watched her being born and stood there in amazement...waiting my turn to hold her...when the nurse took her and was walking out of the room. I said can I hold her for a minute? They said No! I was devastated and they must have seen the look on the face. One of the other nurses, who knew all I had been through for 3 months, whispered to the other nurse and then she said Okay. She put her in my arms and I cried like a baby...mask on and all. I had my camera in my hands and was shaking and crying so hard and the nurse said, "do you want me to take your picture?" I said, YES! And today it is one of my treasured pictures.
Get to that baby as soon as you can and love every single minute with her. She may have little hands, but they will wrap around your heart so tight.
BTW, you met Tory at the KY RU. She's quite a girl, as is all my grandbabies. :) Love them all. Kathy
Me...A Granpa??!!
"Melt like a pat of butter in a warm skillet", I love that line Dea, it sure does say what will happen to me when I get Carson in my arms for the first time next week!
I was in Wally World the other day lookin for after Christmas special sale stuff. I saw a pair of knee pads in the hardware section, shoulda got a pair I reckon!
Donna, I must say your red hair is beautiful and matches the rest of ya! And yes, Jerry told me how y'alls grandson melted his heart big time! When he was tellin us about his grandson his eyes were sparklin just as bright as the sunshine we had there on the golf course! I could sure tell how much he loved him!
MM, what a heartwarming story! I'm so sorry about the accident though, but God saw to it that everything was alright! He even touched the nurses hearts and made them let you hold the baby!
If you have that photo digitized I'd sure like to see it posted here!
And I think I remember meeting Tory, dark hair, kind of quiet? I spoke to a young girl that was sitting in a lawn chair the evening before we all left. I'm not sure if that was Tory or not. I must apologize for my loss of memory. I'll blame it on age, after all, I am a granpa now doncha know! ;~)
TC...
Tory...Quiet? No Way! she is a very out going little gal. You probably mean Lisa and Jessie's little girl, Sally. Jo
Thanks, RR....I was going to say that and she didn't have the dark hair either, ha, ha....Look at the RU pics, you'll see a lot of Tory. :)
How am I supposed to know if it's Tory I'm lookin at? ;~)
I'm lazy MM, find a photo for me of her in the RU pics and post the link to it here, or just post a photo you have of all yer family here and tell me who's who.
I hope all of y'all had a happy and safe celebration last nite!
I wish the best to all of y'all in 2004!
TC...
What a wonderful Christmas surprise! She is just gorgeous, an "Irish Rose" if there ever was one. Not very many more days before you'll be able to croon lullabies to Carson. That little Kentucky Woman is bound to steal your heart, TC! Congratulations
tc, here is a link for a picture of Tory. She was just the cutest little thing.

Donna
Thank you Donna. :) How are things in CA?
Happy New Year. Kathy
Hi Cathy...your welcome.
Things are finally slowing down around here and I'm glad the holidays are over this year. I don't know if I'm just getting older or things are too overwelming anymore, but I just couldn't get organized for anything this year. I didn't even get my normal Christmas cards out, and that's a bad thing. My DD's family has been sick with colds, but so far we are ok. Thanks for asking.
Donna
Thank you zone3_newbie (Kathy is it?), what a sweet comment!
Thanks for that link Donna, I remember seein that little doll baby at the KYRU now. She'e precious!
TC...
Now TC, her Daddy is in Iraq right now (he is with the 4th ID and was part of the force that caught someone recently). :) Anyhow, he should be back in the Spring and Tory and her Momma are heading back to TX and then to Alaska. You want to talk about a sad, sad Gammy.....Not sure what we're going to do except follow her, ha, ha... Thank you for your sweet comments about Tory. She is precious! A very special child. She remembers your song too, from time to time she'll ask me about it. The hole at the bottom of the sea....:) See how you impressed her...
It's Helen, tc, lol. Just read Kathy's post and now I'm all curious about that song you sang to Tory. "The hole at the bottom of the sea..." sounds familiar, but I can't place it. For some reason, I get a fuzzy connection with the Lawrence Welk Show-- must have heard it on there when I was a wee one.
Sorry 'bout not gettin yer name right Helen. I was goin by Donna sayin "Hi Cathy...your welcome" in the 5th post up from this one.
Anywho, the song "Hole In the Bottom of the Sea" (not sure if that's even the correct name of it), is one I've sung to my and everbody's elses young-uns ever since I've been pluckin a geetar, and that's a long time!
I don't know who, what, or where I learned it from. I start out singin it real slow, and speed it up as I sing and play all the other funny verses. A few lines for ya:
There's a hole in the bottom of the sea
There's a log in the hole
There's a knot on the log
There's a frog on the knot on the knot on the log, in a hole in the bottom of the sea.
There's a wart on the frog...
There's a hair on the wart...
There's a flea on the hair...
There's a germ on the flea...
There's an amoeba on the germ...
Whew...I'm give out now!
TC...
Was it Rod Brassfield that used to do it on The Grand Ole Opry?? I've heard it since I was young...and that has been a LONG TIME! LOL Jo
I don't know if that's who done it or not Mom.
TC...
TC thanks for those lyrics! I remember it now. My Mom and Dad were singing along (or trying to) when it was on TV. My sister and I were too little to be able to remember all the lyrics. It probably was Grand Ole Opry I heard it on.
Helen
Beautiful baby TC!
Aren't you supposed to follow up "the Hole in the Bottom of the Sea" with "Go Tell Aunt Rhodie, and "The Fox"? My Morgan (who was redheaded until about 5) loved Irish railroad songs so we sang such as "A' Working on the Railroad"
DD has decided that folksinging is cool ! I had forgotton how high Scarborough Fair is Lol!
I wish my memory was as good as y'alls, I can't remember when I first heard "Hole In the Bottom of the Sea"!
Frog, I've heard "Go Tell Aunt Rhodie", somethin 'bout an "old grey goose" bein dead I think? I ain't heard that song in a coon's age! I havn't heard of "The Fox" at all. But I have heard "A'Working on the Railroad."
"I've been workin on the railroad ♫ all the live long day ♫"
Thanks for the compliment on my new grandaughter! We're leavin Wednesday to go down for a visit, returning on Sunday.
TC...
DON'T FORGET THE CAMERA!!!!!!!!!
Don't worry farizona, I won't!! Thanks!
TC...
Better include a big box of Kleenex for when you and your family have to leave that new baby!
Or throw a good infant car seat in your car for when you babynap her. :)
Won't need the kleenex Elena, babynapped is the route I'm plannin on takin! I won't be usin no infant car seat though MM, that'd be to obvious to spot. I'm usin an old burlap tater sack, jus hide it in the trunk. We have one of those little access doors in the back seat of the car that we can use to get into the trunk, we'll check on Carson that way. ;~)
TC...
Oh That makes sense. I'm always the practical one so tend to think of car seats and such. Of course, with 4 under 5 yo at my house now, I drive the rolling car seat bus! :)
TC Hope you and your wife have a great trip to see the beautiful new granddaughter. And we will all expect to see some great photo shots of here when you return. Donna
Have a safe journey and make lots of nice memories!
Helen
Ruth and zone3, I'll be sure to take plenty of photos! I have two memory cards for my digital camera, one is 128 MB that I can take over 90 pictures on. The other is 64 MB, plenty of room for lots of pics on it too!
TC...
TC if you are going to be close by coming or going stop by if ya can.
Sorry I havn't posted since we got back but I started classes the very next day of our return! Now I can use the "back-in-school-not-much-free-time" excuse!
Anywho...
As I've noticed in the past, the start of a semester is usually kind of slow so while I have time I reckon I should post a few photos of our trip to KY.
My first few will be of Carson, of course, so here are several that I've finally gotten around to cleaning up.
Awwww, TC, Carson is precious!
Is that Felder in the last picture?
Hi 'Ya Felder
I read on him once in a while ever since you posted his simple diagram of a shed type GH last summer. I like the way he thinks.

LOL...Garden 'Decor'....Luv it !

Hmmm...wonder how long a drive it is to Grove City!?
Sounds pretty cool to me, TC. Be sure to check back in and let us know how it goes!
I will Shoe. It'll be a busy week next week! I'm pickin Felder up at the Pittsburgh airport on Wednesday. He's givin a talk there that evenin for Master Gardeners. We're drivin back up here after that. On Thursday he's givin a lecture at Slippery Rock University in the early afternoon, then another one at the Extension office here in town that evenin. Friday's is the clip from the paper I posted above.
I think that'll wrap up his schedule and he'll probably head off somewhere else Saturday mornin.
There ain't no tellin what he'll have me doin for all his lectures. He said it's a surprise. I hope I don't have to make tire planters for all of his talks! I reckon I should go to my "old tire store" just in case!
Anywho, I just know we'll have lots of fun together!
TC...
