I just wanted to wish all of you here at DG a Happy, Healthy and Holy Christmas Season.

Thought I'd share a Christmas E-card that I made a couple years ago. I really need to make a new one, but feel terribly un-inspired. This one will have to do again this year.
Hope you enjoy it, anyway.
Merry Christmas,
Cheri'
A Christmas Card
A Blessed Christmas to you too, Cheri, your card looks like a great stained glass window.
Thank you both.
Lenjo, it's from a picture I took of one of the stained glass windows in our Church, when we were building the website.

Cheri, send me the link of your parish church, it would be fun to look. St. Mary's in Mt. Angel doesn't have their own website but we do have an Oktoberfest in the fall and here is picture that gives an idea of St. Mary's. I will look for something better.

Thanks Sundry--I've sent it to everyone I know. Sure is beautiful. Again, Thanks!
your welcome, glendamoore. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I hope your friends will, too.
Lenjo, our Church website is at
http://www.churchofassumption.com
It's due a face-lift, but the people on the Church's end can't quite commit to one yet. LOL! I'm sure they are remembering the first go round - how much work it was.
Some things aren't quite 100% right at the website since we moved to a new server this summer. This is one of the things that is making a re-build needed.
It's a big site - to see what the building looks like, check out Virtual Visit/Church Interior
http://churchofassumption.com/interior.shtml
Some of the pics of the stained glass leave something to be desired, and we couldn't get shots of them all. Stained glass is hard to photograph! But some really came out good.
Mt. Angel looks like a beautiful Church! So full of light ... I'd love to do a 'virtual tour' of that building.

Hi, Cheri' - I like the pipe organ music on there. Your graphics linkware is really creative and colorful, too. :)
Thanx, gardenwife.
As to the images, it's kinda on the cheesy side, these days, but it was really cool in 1999, when we were designing it. LOL
My favorite part of the site is the Brief History of the Building.
Cheri'
I was talking about your linkware -- I've not looked at the church site just yet. :)
Not cheesy at all, Cheri, beautiful!!! We are so privileged to attend Mass in churches that look like churches. Some of these modern things in the round are quite ugly. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this is truly beautiful and upholds century of tradition.
In 1992 Mt. Angel, St. Mary's suffered a pretty good earthquake, we were out our building almost two years. There was so major renovation that had to be done and I am sure the priest at the time wanted to make major changes. People in the parish made so much noise that he didn't get nearly everything he would have liked. On the old high altar we have the same Last Supper plaque. St. Mary's was built in 1912 by the Germans and Swiss who settled here from Engleberg. We have a Benedictine monastery just south east of town up on a hill. Quite picturesque up there. I will see what I can find. This edited to say this is a view of the "hilltop" as we call it from our farm east of town.

I found another site with the church but I don't know how to get it open. I will have to wait and ask my experts, one of the girls. Here is a link to the Abbey. http://www.mtangel.edu/
Gads, GW, I'm such a ditz! On the Christmas card, the send a link thing is an ancient freebie script. I've used it for years. Or are you talking about the flash thing?
It's just flash, set up to show a JPG if flash isn't installed.
Thanx for the kind words!
Cheri'

Lenjo, I agree with you about changing the beautiful old cathedral style buildings into some warped out round set up. To me, it just never works.
We are so fortunate to have Father Russo at the Church of the Assumption. He understands and values the beauty of our Church. In fact, he has taken up where it was left off, finishing the steps and the columns, re-furbishing the organ, refinishing the pews and the confessionals (Yes! they are still there!) and repairing the damage done by more 'progressive' Pastors.
The Monastery at Mt. Angel is fascinating. Such an interesting history. I'm going to read more later. Let me know when you find the link to the other site!
Cheri'
Nope, I'm talking about the linkware web sets (like the crawfish graphic with the buttons and banners) at your cherisplace site; I went up a directory from your Christmas card in order to see the rest of your site. Right now it's timing out on me and I can't get to it to show you what page I'm talking about.
Ye Gads! cherisworld has not been updated in ages, years literally. I really should pull it down ... I forget that it still exists. I haven't created graphics for that site in at least 2 or 3 years.
Glad you like the graphics, the crayfish set is a nice one. I'm partial to the magnolia sets, myself. =)
