Just spoke with Margaret and they have been out of electric since 9:00 am. She said the pine trees are bent over to the ground. If it's not on in a couple hours they will get a motel room for the night. They have a woodburning fireplace so they are warm. She said she wished she had a battery tv though LOL...DD in PA said she was supposed to get at least 4 inches today.

Thanks vic - as you can see I'm up and running again. We managed to get back to normal after ten hours. Since we have a well we were without water too and that was difficult but we managed and no harm done except to the garden and the pine trees. No Kim - didn't miss Survivor - that was on Thursday!! :-)

Margaret, I'm so glad you didn't lose power for a long period of time. I had called Adam at work after I first read this thread and he told me they were sending linemen from the Tidewater area to Central VA, so I was hoping that it wouldn't be a long wait for you.
We also have a well - surely there has to be a way to use one during a power outage besides owning a generator?
