I just got through making my Red Velvet cake, I hope it is as good as it looks, Hope everyone has a special day tomorrow

That cake is beautiful. I am reminded of the first red velvet cake that I ever ate. It was also beautiful but tasted awful. My secret pal in my homemakers club gave it to me for Christmas and I could hardly wait to gobble it up. When I thanked her for it later I had a hard time thinking of words to tell her that I appreciated her efforts without lying about the taste of the cake. It hit the garbage shortly after we all got a little bitty taste. I think she forgot to put any sugar in the batter as it was not the least bit sweet except for the icing. Memories......What fun! Enjoy that cake and think of me when you are eating it.

Oh my, Your picture is making me hungry for chocolate and nothing in my cupboard that will taste anything like that cake. I'm so sad :(

Well it was not awful!! It was very good it is almost GONE now ( I didn't eat it all LOL) but i have made one that was so awful i threw it away right after baking if i remember cirrectly it was hard and flat My mother said i beat the vinegar and soda in too much at the end, this can be a hard cake to bake....

Glad it turned out nicely for you. I have not made one before...maybe I'll have to do just that! But today, off to the in-laws to enjoy some turkey and screaming children, LOL

I got the recipe off of All Recipes.com you can look at reviews and see if it is any good I added 1 1/2 cup of crsco butter flavored sticks instead of the 1/2 cup it called for it was great moist but not as moist as i would like might be a little dry up north with no humidity my mother swears by 1 1/2 cups wesson oil and it has to be Wesson Brand. i like the one with the buttermilk in it not sweet milk but don't botehr with the frosting in says to make for it just make what ever you like cream cheese I just made a birthday cake frosting and added pecans it was sooo good, It's Gone....
