What are the top things that you can't stand? I don't mean bad things that everyone should hate, but lesser irritations. For me it would be boom cars and people who chew gum audibly.

Can't Stand It!
When I can FEEL the music from a car near mine. And when a co-worker's radio is so distracting that I have to ask him to lower it, or turn it off myself because it's on and he's away from his desk. I HATE that! It makes me feel like I'm being picky when he's the one being rude and thoughtless.
Little remote controlled cars!! They sound like a pesky bug just buzzing around and around. We have a neighbor on the street behind us who plays with it for long periods of time and it gives me a headache.

I just hate it when people let their cell phones ring during music programs, movies, church, etc. I attended a Women's Christian conference this summer, and a woman answered her phone during one of the speaker's talks. Then she proceeded to carry on a conversation without making an attempt to leave the room or keep her voice down. Needless to say, I was very distracted and then had to pray for forgiveness as I wanted to go bop that woman in the head! Nat
Kelli,I must agree with the gum chewing.
I have a coworker that never lets anybody talk to the end of a sentence. She always cuts you off and on top of that is very loud. She drives me crazy.
I have a list:
Call waiting drives me nuts. You will be right in the midst of a conversation, and the person you are talking to says "Hold on, the other line is ringing". Makes me feel completely unimportant.
People who pick their noses and wipe at anywhere - wall, shirt sleeve, clothing.
People who don't cover their mouths when they sneeze.
Unruly children in nice restaurants. I expect kids at McDonald's, but not in places where the food doesn't even cater to children.
People who ALWAYS know more about ANY subject than you do !
And I agree - people who never let you finish a sentence.
People who let their dogs run loose in my yard.
People who use obscene language for no reason - just part of their language base.
Wow - I thought I was pretty laid back ! Maybe not....
What is a boom car?
I hate it when you take your kids out for a meal and the family at the table are acting like little angels and all yours are trying to do is flick peas at them whilst you get glares from the parents !! LOL!!
I thought of another one -
When you call a business or a utility company and get that menu "Press one if....press two if..." and none of the options puts you in touch with a person who can help you.
Psilo - Was that you sitting next to me at the restaurant ? LOL !
This is one of my pet peeves, and you would be surprised how often it happens: people clipping their nails in the office at their desk. We had one guy who would yank off his socks and plunk his foot on the desk and clip his toe nails. disgusting!!!!
Hey there yall;
Yeah, that was me chewing my gum out loud, but before I started chewing my gum, it was me who lit up that cigarette, for 34 years.(Just replacing 1 habit for another) Sorry dear, it may be another 30 years before I can get off the gum and the gardening obsession, but I'll try to be more quiet. LOL.
Molly
Oh Pebble!! Yukkk. My eldest son has a habit of doing that on the couch right under my nose and I hate it too!
Honeygirl LOL!! my! do you have a steely glare ;)
my children arent especially badly behaved but you can bet they will be when there is a 'good' set of children sitting near by. You can just hear their parents saying 'OMG just look at that woman who cant control her children!!'
A few days ago a guy sat next to me and picked his scab on his leg. Usually I can ignore most anything, but I really had to get up and move on this one! LOL!
HoneyGirl, you sure came up with some good irritating stuff!
Call waiting is one I can't stand, and I will never put it on my phone. If somebody wants to talk to me they can call back.
(always used by my irritating friend, along with half of your other dislikes.)
I definitely agree on calling a business and spending five minutes pressing different numbers, then when you finally get to a person they still don't know who you are, or why you are calling.
How about when you get a sales call and you pick up the phone and an answering machine asks you to please hold for a representative to tell you something. Does anybody actually stay on hold?
no Painted lady I wouldnt!! how rude!! here my phone number is sales protected so no salesman can call me :))
What I hate most: Someone blowing their nose while I'm eating. Also "playing" with their dentures.
I hate the overy loud boom boxes, particularly if they are in a car near me and the sound hurts my ears AND makes my whole vehicle vibrate. I know it's against the law now in many places but seldom enforced. We'll have a new deaf generation in a few years.
I dislike people who throw trash out of the car windows... on my yard, or on the highway. I'm always picking up beer bottles and soda cups thrown in my hedge by the Neanderthals living down the block. I have thought about putting up a sign and a trash can with a target over it but they probably can't read.
I dislike screaming, unruly children, anywhere.
I do dislike the rudeness of people who use call waiting. It makes me feel unimportant too, HoneyGirl. I don't have it, but have wished I did when my mother was in the ER a couple of times, so I guess there IS a time and place for it.
I dislike people who talk non-stop and never even hear a reply in conversation. I guess that makes it a monologue, rather than conversation, doesn't it?
There are probably a lot more, as I surely have lots of pet peeves. However, I am really trying to focus on postitive images now and not dwell on negative ones.
Cheryl you wouldnt want to be beside me then at traffic lights. boommm boommm boommm boommm
Psilo
a boom car is when someone has the music on so loud, in their car, that the entire neighborhood reverberates.
I don't care for people who drive, talk on the phone and smoke while nearly causing accidents.
Mobi
speaking of talking on the phone - In the UK from December 1st it is a criminal offence to drive whilst talking on your mobile phone!
I almost forgot - women (mostly) who wear way too much perfume. I have allergies and it's actually disgusting to me.
I was just cussing my pet peeve this afternoon.I hate it when I'm driving down the highway and the person in front of me brakes when they are approaching a green light.
Even worse, I hate it when people don't wash there hands before touching food that I am going to eat. I am a freak about this and won't even touch my own food without washing my hands. I carry hand wipes with me everywhere I go, lol.
When I am at work. The front desk boys want me to explain something to a customer. (It's not my job #1) (the customer is already mad at thier lame explanations #2) "Yes sir, you need to replace that $400 part to make your check engine light go out." WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THIS LAST MONTH WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ON. "Sir, it was on last month because you opened your gas cap with the engine running. Remember, we just cancelled the code?"WHO PUT THAT STUPID LIGHT IN THE DASH ANYWAY? "That would be your government, sir." and on and on...
It's gotta be the perfume, or any cheap smelly stuff for that matter.
I had a confrontation with a higher-up at work when she decided that she should spray my office with 'fragrance'. (MY office!) Imitation designer perfume air freshener, at that. gag
I won.
And one upping the smell thing - food smells in the bathroom. Please, save your apple-cinnamon oil for the living areas. harf
Cheri'
Oh yeah Cheri - gotta add that one to my list too. Too much cologne or perfume is anything I can smell past a hug. It's even worse in a closed bathroom where so many people "freshen" it up.
Having a neighbor's child play a taping of "Like
a Virgin" at top volume for 4 hours straight! That's
all the tape had on it...the one song recorded over and
over again.
people who drive at half the speed set for motorways (dont know if it's highway or freeway) and before you know it you are on top of them horns blarin and brakes hard to the floor
or sunday drivers!!! arrgghhhhhhh!!
Proving the theory that we only hate in others what we hate in ourselves, I canīt stand people like me :^)
Marco, I'm glad you said that, because I cannot stand someone like myself either, LOL.
isnt that why they say opposites attract? because if you had to live with yourself you'd end up driving yourself insane!!LOL
LOL, exactly :^)
How about the person that pulls out in front of you like they are in a mad hurry, then they drive 10-15 miles below the speed limit???
I can't stand to see parents/grandparens begging, bribing and promising stuff to their kids to get them to behave. I think the parents on the cell phones totally ignoring their screaming children are just as bad!
I have call waiting and I use it WHEN the kids are in school. You never know.... I'd be less rude and use the caller ID on the call waiting but I can't figure it out! LOL It does not matter who calls my SIL, they are always more important. The worst part-she usually has called me!
I am horribly bugged by 'buy one get one free' or 'second item half off', then you get to the register only to find, someone had rearranged the items! Do you put them back or just pay more?
Bad service and bad food in restaurants! Hey, if I am paying for it, I expect it to be right! And if you are getting paid to bring it to me, I expect you to be friendly!
A big pet peeve, I can't stand it when people drop by. I have five kids, two dogs and a cat, plus we remodel constantly. Everyone says don't worry about it because I do have ^^^^^, but still! I know it's silly. I always tell kids and hubby, it is one thing for them not to mind their messy house, but it is another thing to invite people to see it! LOL
Maybe I have a bit of pent up hostility...... :)
the person that pulls out in front of you like they are in a mad hurry, then they drive 10-15 miles below the speed limit???
You are so right. I would love to ask the person why.
Because they can! LOL
People who allow their dogs to bark ceaselessly day and night. I don't know how they can live with it. I know I can't.
Fortunately, as I am growing older, I am also growing deafer - and considering it a blessing:-)
Vickey
Dang! I think my neighbors live next to you too!! LOL Not only the barking dog, their cat thinks it lives here!
I also get very aggravated by people who don't know how to use their turn signals. And people who tail gate.
Monocromatico
While you make a good point (and yes I sometimes I tell myself to shut up) one of my minor annoyances is poor customer service. I've worked with the general public, I understand they aren't always very nice but it's no excuse to go around being ignorant or obtuse to anyone. I'm glad to say I've had a lot of good comments about my manners, I love to make those kind of comments about other people too but I will complain (occasionally loudly) when I feel I'm not getting a good service.
I've never met a driver who isn't annoyed by other road users in a startling number of ways. As far as I'm concerned as long as they are driving safely and within the speed limit, I couldn't care less. I care even less about drivers who get annoyed when they are in a hurry. What are the people on the other end going to do? Stop them from breathing if you're 5 minutes late? I don't care if they're running late, why put the responsibility on me?
My husband who thinks only of himself. His excuse is he always forgets. Well tonight I would like to forget him. The yard needs done, Leaves and pine needles. I need the tarps put over the frame with my plants for winter. I ask what was on his agenda tomorrow. What do you mean?
I am in need of back surgery and it keeps getting postponed due to other problems. Heart is on of them. He doesn't mind how much I do or if it hurts me. As long as he is not disturbed.
Our dogs pooped in their kennel around 5 months ago, He said he will get it. when ask again if he likes living like that, his reply was it is dried up now. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I cleaned it today. I am sure he was whispering under his breath(It is about time she got the hint.)
I know he is 48 and does hard labor at work, but LAZY is his favorite past time. I try to speak to him and he changes the subject or walks away.
He use to be a good husband, I don't know what happened.
thanks for letting me vent although I don't feel better because it won't change.
